The rumors of Left 4 Dead hitting the PlayStation 3 is very much like one of the infected's Tanks -- incredibly hard to kill, and increasingly annoying. The latest rumor comes courtesy of UK retailer HMV, which has a listing for the PS3 version and scheduled it to release on June 5 of this year.
Valve mocked the latest rumors, with a rep simply saying of HMV's PS3 version: "Fantastic. I can't wait to see it."
I can't wait to see it either, since PS3 loyalists can stop saying "Left 4 Dead sucks" and start saying "Left 4 Dead is pretty cool actually." It'll be great to see these rumors finally end like the BioShock ones did. Until we see L4D on the PS3 (if we see it at all), this will never be over. Gamers never take no for an answer, especially when they're being denied a game that they want, so EA needs to hurry up and port the bloody thing over in Valve's stead.
Also, Left 4 Dead confirmed for Wii, DS and Sega Master System.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
controls are waaaay too slippery
You're not alone. Now, however, I fear the two of us may have to defend ourselves from a horde of L4D fans (ie. everyone on the internet) in a scene eerily reminiscent of the game itself. I'll take point.
Still not as good as the PC version, though.
Also... "L4D for PS3" is the new "MGS4 for 360" ?
That seems a bit one-sided. Even if you're in the camp of L4D being a good game, no way does it compare to MGS. How about you through in all of the exclusive DLC Microsoft is hording? I want operation Anchorage!
(See Fallout 3, Mirror's Edge, Left 4 Dead, anything else with a first person view, any form of RTS...)
@wolverine, this isnt a trade off, left for dead is on PC also, which most people have. MGS won't be on 360 because of media and hardware constrictions.
I'm your 4th for not liking L4D. I thinks its ok, but it got boring reeeeeallly quickly.
I'll cover our rear. I have a pipebomb that should keep L4D lovers off of us until we get to the saferoom AKA Home haha.
Yes. Valve is a PC dev, and the 360 is pretty much a microsoft based PC, deving for it is super easy for pc porting and is the main reason why they port their games to xbox and not the ps3.
The lack of support they show for the games that HAVE been released (orange box), is disappointing, and retarded. Put some effort behind your products. Just because Gabe Newell doesnt like the ps3, doesnt mean that less gamers should get a chance to play their (good) games. Shit, even when they can play them on the ps3, you get shitty support, lack of expansions and patches, its just so stupid. I love valve like a brother, but wtf, step up your game, have respect for all the gamers who give you money.
The people who say left for dead gets boring, are probably playing it on the 360. Another reason why it should be bought on the PC is the online community. It's ten fold more active than live, and supports user created levels, and mods. A huge staple for PC gaming enthusiasts.
Go fuck yourselves you lazy assholes.
Sincerely,
Mentok
I think the PS3 would be capable of that.
Good point funran, MGS4 is a little heavy for the 360's hardware, therefore It probably won't ever come to fruition.
And guess what, I own all three platforms that everyone is bickering about.. And I can honestly tell people the PS3 gives you more bang for the buck... But not as much bang as a PC gives you.. Totally different applications though.. one is for movies/music/games (game console,) and one can be used to create games, do your schoolwork, listen to new music, write letters, send email, etc. etc.
Alright, I may just be way too optimistic, but he doesn't actually say that the game is not being ported. He just says, "Fantastic. I can't wait to see it." Electronic Arts would likely be doing the port anyways. What I'm trying to say is maybe it's time we start spamming EA on the subject.
I'm one of the "few" who wasn't particularly impressed with the game, but how can you say "the inclusion of friendly fire was a sloppy design choice." The whole design of the game is based around organization and teamwork. If there's no consequence for poor play then the game would have no point.
Thank you.
But it's true. It's harder to port from the PC (Valve's primary development platform) to the PS3 than to the 360. It requires more resources for development and support. Valve has made a business decision to not develop for the PS3. It's nothing personal, but they don't owe you anything.
And they won't be able to play the same 2 VS scenarios over and over and over because Valve was so goddamn lazy that they shipped an incomplete game out?
That's a shame :(
@funran
You realize the game was rated highly without these mods right?
The fact that you're fine with your purchase because OTHER PEOPLE THAT ARE NOT VALVE are releasing content is pretty silly, I don't take mods into account when I buy a PC game, if a game can't stand on its own 2 feet then its a failure.
I'm with Sephiroth and the other guys, if this game had been released by anyone other than Valve it would have been panned to death and back since its Valve OH NOM NOM NOM, VALVE CAN DO NO WRONG.
And honestly, after that Dead Space announcement, I wouldn't be surprised to see it on the Wii. Valve does like the Wii, after all.
I haven't cared for Valve since Half Life 1. Even Portal wasn't enough for me to go, wow, these guys know what they're doing, 2 hours of Tutorial, and 1 hour of actual adventure, all the while being berated by Shodan, I mean Glados, isn't enough for me to go "Wow! Games can be art!".
I chucked the bloody cube down the shoot as soon as I had the chance... I'm a bitter, bitter man.
You could make whatever computer you're posting from capable of L4D for the cost of a single PS3 game, you gibbering retards. Stop complaining when a billion dollar company doesn't bend over from your whining.
Hi, I'm Personal Taste, nice to meet you! We should hang out more often!
