Left 4 Dead anti-cheat fix announced for Xbox 360 photo

Well, that was quick.

We only just spoke about the issue of Xbox 360 griefers hacking Left 4 Dead this morning, but Valve has just announced that a fix has been released. This should resolve the problem of morons cheating on L4D and spawning thirty witches in a safe house.

"Valve has released a server-side fix to deny the recently reported cheats on all dedicated Left 4 Dead Xbox 360 servers," states Doug Lombardi. "The fix is designed to halt the cheating behavior on the dedicated servers, which accounts for the majority of the co-op and Versus modes of play. A title update for those playing on user-hosted servers and/or via system link will be released in the coming days."

Good news for people who don't suck. Let us all rejoice!

IF they can get a patch out this quick, it makes the fact that Castle Crashes STILL doesn't have a patch even worse.

Holy crap, Valve did something not slowly! D:

Cheating on an easy and generic shooter? That's pretty low.

@Neonie: That's the first thing I thought as well. Although server-side fixes are much easier to test and distribute, I'm still going to be grumpy about my broken behemoth game

Why do people cheat? It's really annoying. Can't people just be good at a game.

if i was going to cheat, i'd like to use cheat codes. Although the video(s) is hilariously funny ^_^, i'm not going out of my way to modify. (and perhaps even getting banned in the process from xbox live or so i've heard)

Oh my god this whole bitching about this is totaly fucking ridiculous On the Pc if somebody is using the damn server admin commands and has them on you ok get this..

You don't want that then Pick ANOTHER server or start your own server and ban the crap WOW what a concept, a choice, geee... maybe that is why there is an option for it. It has been that way since almost the start of time And nobody on PC whines about it.

What do the xbox people do bitch and whine that they have the PC text commands and demand a patch because some people found out how to use the boo hoo.

Cube, we get it, we get it. You fuck your PC every night, and even then, feel slightly ashamed when even the DVD slot is too big for your dick to have any effect.

Cube, if you're going to be a PC fanboy at least do us the service of not painting us in such a poor light by being a complete retard.

"nobody on PC whines about it". Check the official forums you fucking donut, there are massive threads about the shitty matchmaking, shitty custom server settings and the lack of filtering options, with more popping up every day.

XBL != PC

XBL is *supposed* to be (and sold as) a closed and restricted system to intentionally avoid the cheating that plagues PC gaming and requiring punkbuster clients on console games.

Too bad, I would have loved to randomly join a game that was going bonkers with those cheats.

Just once.

Cube is saying that its not cheating in this respect. Valve built this into the game. The difference is the 360 version has no console access in order for a server admin to enable the cheats. All someone did was figure out how to enable "sv_cheats 1" in the console of the 360 version. Honestly if Valve built it into the game I don't see why there isn't a tick box to enable cheats on the 360 version and allow you to do this stuff. It's a blast to mess around with once your bored with the normal game.

Couldn't this be something that you can simply enable or disable instead of taking it away completely? I could see this being fun as long as people agree to it (isn't there voting in L4D?). "Press START to ENABLE cheats." Then if it passes and the majority wants cheats, maybe its fair for the person against cheats to find a new game. Same goes visa versa.

Exactly, this should be an option. Considering by removing it completely they are removing a feature. It adds replayability once you're bored of the regular game. Plus they are effectevily denying features to 360 users that pc users get.

Sure, it sucks that we are denied cheats access now, but holy shit. That was fucking fast. Why can't every other patch come out this quickly? Really makes other developers look bad. Leave it up to Valve to, once again, shit on the competition.
