People are (rightly) pissed with the handling of Left 4 Dead's release, not Left 4 Dead 2 in itself. There are so many things that Valve should have done by now and people find that they haven't got:
a proper SDK release
a way to integrate custom campaigns
much needed improved lobby functionality
better matchmaking
The content that was stated to be coming
and so on
because Valve have been working on a sequel.
But I guess this isn't anything worth calling a developer out on? You do remember all the stuff they said in the build up to release, right?
Chill the fuck out.
I mean 13,000 out of how many sales that L4D had? 2, 3 million?
On another note there are plenty of things to be angry about in our world and in the gaming community, a sequel to a great game with a significant amount content added is not one of them.
Valve are still releasing more stuff for L4D from now until L4D2's release and after, and are planning on including L4D's campaigns in L4D2 so the communities won't be decimated in any way that matter, you can just play the sequel and still play the good old levels you liked, so I have absolutely 0 complaints about L4D2. Bring on the bayou.

For someone that hates trolls, you're quite a troll yourself Jim.
I am totally not going through all of that and invalidating every point they make. I already did that once with the list that the group Jim found did. x_X
I signed because it's going to demolish the player base splitting it between the two games and it means no more content support for L4D1. I wasn't expecting free content, but the option of paid content was implied in many interviews from Valve. Content that is no longer coming.
So, I signed just to say I'm no longer supporting your L4D product.
Get a life, people.
"The only complaint that holds water is the first one, and we still don't know how much further support Valve is giving L4D anyway."

"Leonard declined to commit to there being more Valve-created content for the game, instead pointing out some upcoming functionality tweaks and the potential in user-created levels for the PC version. "We are doing updates across the summer, adding new matchmaking features, and new features to facilitate user maps after the SDK is out," he said. "Certainly, user maps will be part of the ongoing Left 4 Dead 1 experience.""
This is to show how much of a troll you are, how you close your eyes and barely ever research, just so you can go against the masses' opinion and generate traffic for dtoid with your flamebait. The way you write has been getting old and tiresome. If you're an intelligent person, try and show that. Because lately, it only looks like you're raging and complaining.
@Jon B: You should at least read it because that shit Jim posted isn't correct anymore. The problem is that the group's mod is nowhere to be found to change that manifesto to the correct one.
I don't care if it's a sequel or an expansion pack, I refuse to buy L4D2 full price. The game barely has innovations to the previous one which still has many problems. I like Valve's games and I would support them if L4D2 was sold for the price of an expansion pack.
i hope they kick this jim wanker from the blog since he is giving destructoid a bad name among the gaming community. seriously, your vocabulary and your "journalism" are laughable. you spend the entire article and spewing incorrect facts and teasing the l4d community as if it actually had intelligence.
just piss off wanker, well have 20,000 people tomorrow boycotting this and youy can suck microsofts cock all u want.

I dare anyone.
$10 = 3-4 Maps in various games, (COD4, Halo 3, GoW)
Each stage in L4D2 consists of 4-5 maps making the entire "level".
5 stages = 20-25 new maps.
Don't forget the new game modes, weapons, and AI Director improvements.
All of that for 50-60 dollars?
Seems like a deal to me.
i never understand how you can make a counterargument to it. the developers said it in the original and they showed us how the nighttime enviornment gives it more mood
You're an idiot, and you suck Kirk's dick.
@KamikazeTutor:
"The few people here who defend the decision to make L4D2 seem to not understand what everyone is upset about. I've tried to summarize the most common issues I've heard people having in hopes that it clears things up..."
And the complaining comes after that.
What's on the Steam Group page IS NOT THEIR MANIFESTO. IT NEVER WAS. It's a summary of what everyone is getting their boxers shoved up their anus about. It's just a list of complaints. A summarized list of complaints.
And I dislike others that I didn't touch. Have you guys EATEN shit? Is it good, bad? "Not having played it" isn't a defense against anything.
Now, I appreciate how the community is finally taking a stand. And I appreciate Jim for calling everybody's attention it. Luckily more people will join that "army".
Perhaps the hard part to understand in this manifest is the whole "it's a sequel to a game they love, how can they complain?".
Well, did anyone really like Final Fantasy X-2? Or Deus Ex: Invisible War? Getting a sequel doesn't mean it's gonna be good. Knowing Valve though, L4D2 will probably play a lot like L4D. And it will feel like an expansion. When does an expansion turn into a sequel? Burnout Paradise should have had a bunch of sequels then, no? They would probably be on the 3rd Paradise or 4th Paradise.
Or about GTA4. Rockstar could have been assholes, witheld the DLC, pack some more crap and then do a GTA4-2 on us. Full price for some new stuff. But no, they realized the game deserves to be expanded. It's got room for it. With DLC, we can stop having to reinvent the wheel every year, and we can start expanding the worlds that have already been created.
Valve just decided to take a crap on all that.
This is the more correct list of general complaints, what Jim keeps posting is not it. I dont see how anyone can say the boycott doesn't have a legitimate argument for their side. I have no problem with them even making this sequel, but they should have made this clear from the beginning and not string people along with continued promises of new content through DLC.
Keep going buddy. First, not understanding how you deserved the double facepalm is hilarious, and sad at the same time. By the say it wasn't a shitty spinoff, it was a continuation after the first series, which takes place in the future. ANYWAYS.
L4d 1 would lose character in the daytime. sure, because ALL of the maps are in the dark, and putting one in the daylight would have required the artists and level designers to further tweak textures, HDR settings, actual level design, etc for daytime environments, and was decided to be cut. So you crucify them for it?
All in all, if they released this as DLC, I can guarantee with the difference in art direction, engine tweaks, melee weapons, etc, it would not be successful and people would Cry about why they didnt release it as a separate game.
People are RARELY happy. And you're right... trying to be Mr. Fox News and take the facts, bend them into your own shape, and use them in your own purpose without seeing the whole picture is wrong isnt it? And you can't possibly be doing that yourself, huh? Of course not.
Me love me some nerd rage on here, gunna go enjoy my sunday.
