It seems that only a handful of us are excited about Left 4 Dead 2 at the moment, with all the protests and melodrama going on. Nonetheless, we proud few who actually can't wait for more co-op zombie action will be pleased to see that some fresh screenshots have hit the Innarnetz. We were supposed to be getting them at E3, but I think Valve forgot. Oh well.
I'm personally really digging the daylight setting. Zombies always scare me more during the day, because the surroundings appear more normal and "safe," yet here are these creatures that don't seem to give a crap what time of day it actually is. Besides which, darkness is so overplayed these days.

That's not to say I'm afraid of the daylight like some people would be afraid of the dark; I just appreciate the creepiness that can surround a location in daylight, especially if you're all alone.

I've been in the Steam community for the haters on and off all day, trying to talk with the haters about a sensible agreement. One point there was an intelligent discussion and we came to a logical conclusion about maybe a pre-sale discount and/or a discount if you already own L4D 1.... but that was almost instantly crushed by numbnuts who compare Newell to Hitler. Gotta love it.

I'm curious about the melee weapons. How useful will those really be if you can still just shove enemies and blow their faces off, or spray around a bit with an AR? If there is a demonstration or something that I just missed, please let me know.
That was one of my burning questions coming into my demo of it. Of course I'm a noob (only 45 total minutes), but I didn't find them "TOO" useful. When you have a melee weapon, you can't switch between anything else, otherwise you drop it. In closed circumstances, it can be extremely effective, especially if you want to save ammo. They purposely made them very powerful (even the frying pan).
You are calling people who are protesting whiners, why don't you go all the way and call whiners also all those people who were protesting against for example communism and achieved democracy thanks to that? (a bit of exaggeration but the principle is the same).
A lot of people don't agree with L4D2 being a full priced sequel and have many other concerns, so they decided to actually do something about it and let themselves be heard as that's the only thing they can do. And if your voice is strong enough, you might actually change some things (EA's DRM backlash, Sims 3)
Yet all you can do is call them whiners. Wow, that's so mature man, gratz! I guess you never heard of freedom of speech eh? Pathetic.
L4D2 to me looks like expansion pack for 50eur. You think it's good and you are going to buy, good for you, enjoy it. Me, I think it's a ripoff for 50eur and thus I'm not going to buy it and I'm also not going to stay quiet about it. If I don't agree with something, I'll let them know.
