Woh. I hate MMOs and I still have to say that. Ever since the launch trailer for Guild Wars 2 hit it has been evident that this game was going to be gorgeous, but this looks amazing. In all honesty I have no idea what Guild Wars is about so I'll leave the in depth commentary to those who know more, but I think I won't get to many arguments with my summation of "woh."
I'm pretty sure that they hit every fantasy cliche known to man in that trailer, but they're hitting the cliches in a unique way at least. With the game further delayed until late 2010 or possibly even 2011 we won't really be seeing any of this in action for a while. Oh well, it's always fun to get excited over things we won't be seeing for a really, really long time.

Meet the rest of the team
Sylvari and Norn Rangers are going to be everywhere. Next to nobody is looking forward to playing as Asura.
Still, GW(1) had some of, if not the, best PvP in any MMO. Now that PvE is basically becoming WoW without the monthly subscription, and if they keep PvP up to the old standard of the first game, I can see GW2 becoming huge, possibly - possibly - a WoW-beater. GW1 already became the #2 MMO at one point, I can see GW2 taking the #1 spot, with some luck and good PR.
Consider my pants soiled. I was a huge fan of Guild Wars when it first came out. It still is my favorite MMO (if you want to call it that) to date. I have tried others, including WoW, but it seems like more of a drag to play them rather than a pleasure. If GW2 can carry over the excellent story, gameplay, and PvP of the original into a persistent world that has no monthly fee, I'm as good as sold.
Well, they might be slightly cliched, but they are very rich in lore(except the Sylvari, they are really new). The Charr, or the furry lion man things, are pyromaniac atheists. They used to worship these things called titans which granted them the ability to cast fire spells, but the titans wanted to destroy the world. After using the titans powers to pretty much destroy all of Human kingdom of Ascolon, the human hero's (players in the first game) sealed the titans away or whatever, and then the Charr's gods were dead, and they had no more powers. The Shaman class who discovered and tried to rule over the charr had been overthrown, their strict regime (They killed anyone who spoke against them and kept women out of power) was over. Now they have resorted to technology and have viewed magic users as weak, relying on false gods or whatever. Once again, Pyromaniac Atheists for the wins. I don't feel like describing the other guys, but out of all of them, Humans are the ones I'm going to join.
DAMNIT, it looks amazing, I remember playing GW A LOT, I tried playing it a couple of months ago, but the servers were empty.... I hope that GW2 has a persistent community and no fees and I'm sold.
Hope they manage to give us some new classes, too. Not that we didn't have a range already, it's just that the only two classes I used for PvE were Warrior and Ritualist, so...

Matt you have no idea. Every person that has played and liked Guild Wars has wanted to play this game since they mentioned it..........in 07....Ya we have waited too long....
This past Black Friday (and the week following) I started purchasing parts for my next gaming rig, with the prospect of eventually playing this game being one of the motivators.
Guild Wars was a refreshing take on MMOs and is the only one to truly draw me in to date.
Also, NCsoft is known for their awesome support of their releases so even if it's not amazing to start out, I have no doubt that it will be pretty quickly.
I spent many an hour playing Guild Wars. The "only 8 skills available" mechanic made playing GW fresh and interesting, especially in PVP. It was always fun to see the builds different teams would use, and made for some intense experiences adapting to them on the fly. Hopefully the take what was great from the first and build on it in the second. And, I pray they don't require a monthly subscription.
Yeah I've read that...but you never know. Wouldn't be the first time a developer has said one thing and then done another in the end. Though I do think Arenanet is great, and NCSoft certainly knows what they are doing with MMOs. And hell, I just saw a new SKU for Guild Wars in every gaming/electronics store I've been in lately, so apparently their model worked for them if its still profitable for them to be operating the servers and selling new copies.
I'm looking forward to this.
Because I desperately want to give the series another go, as I found the first one absolutely horrid. I mean you couldn't even fucking jump.
Guild Wars seriously has or had a human kingdom named "Ascolon"??? Surely I'm not the only one who sees the absurdity and borderline vulgarity here. :P I thought "Stormwind" was a cheesy name, but cheese beats anatomical references any day. lol

I remember Gaile sitting in Lion's Arch at the end of 2007 saying there should be a BETA weekend for GW2 by the end of 2008. Well...
DO WANT!
News to me.
You're either a troll, or you have horrible taste in games. Either way, it doesn't bode well for you.
