LBP demo lands this week with GOTY edition photo

Long ago, in a year known as 2007, mankind was disappointed by the news that there would be no demo for the upcoming PS3 exclusive LittleBigPlanet. We were only disappointed though as we assumed that a demo would be coming at some point, most likely before the game released. No demo ever came, leaving mankind to rely solely on Destructoid's review of the game, which was both honest and correct (we're always right -- always), so it wasn't that big a deal. Still, maybe some of mankind wanted to try the game out for themselves before purchase.

Now they shall have that chance. With the announcement that LBP will be getting a Game of the Year edition on September 8 comes the news that the Game of the Year edition will be getting a demo on September 10. Rejoice, ye who are late at buying great games. The demo will feature a few of the levels from the game, a small selection of level creation tools and a few levels that have been picked from the massive community level database. Maybe then you'll join the rest of us in the glory that is launching an adorable Sackboy into a brick wall at high speeds.

Who gave LBP GOTY? 3 or 4 publications?

Still, can't blame them for trying to capitalize on the lower price of the console, not to mention the slim redesign.

This is great, this is the first game I am going to buy as soon as I get my PS3.
So, the demo will point me in the right direction, to buy it or not.

It's not that LBP got the goty edition...its that there are what, 4 GOTYs out now, or coming out? People relly just need to release 1 or something per year. The only one Im suprised they havent announced yet is GTA IV

Cod W@W sucks.

LBP is the best game released in the whole year.

GTA is overrated.

Great news. Just got a slim PS3. Bought Uncharted and MGS. Been debating on LBP, so this will be a big help. Can't wait. Was just going 2 get PSP version, but the lack of online support 4 it is dissapointing.

I can kind of understand why they didn't originally release a demo for it. For a game that focuses on creating and sharing more heavily than it does on the shipped content, letting people play one of the game's story levels would really just give players the wrong impression regarding what this game is all about.
It'd be cool if this upcoming demo was actually one of the more popular user-made levels, just to show what the community has to offer.

I'm going for the full version personally. Never picked it up but always was interested. But since so many people say it's great and I should play it I'll take their word.

@EternalDeathSlayer
I guess you can't blame any company for using that as a selling point if even just 1 publication/website says it's true. Personally I think MGS4 should have been hands-down goty everywhere, but that's personal opinion. Ironically enough, there's no goty edition for MGS4 yet

This is the only game that makes me want to get a PS3. And now it is all the more enticing.

Hey, you know those 18 levels that come with the GotY edition?

If you bought the game a year ago, you won't be able to play them, sorry.

It's about time!! Personally I would never have bought this game except that I managed to get into the beta and it won it's way into my heart. I suspect that there are many people who will enjoy the charm of this game and realize that while they may not play it everyday, it's an excellent game to have in any game library for when friends or kids come over (I mean really... 4 people on the same screen is a ton of fun!!). The level designing is also comprehensive and sure to offer many hours to those who want to create and share.

@Dangsterr

At least those games have DLC that...you know, would make a GOTY worth it

*looks at L4D*

This is weird. I'm pretty sure that I've played a demo of Little Big Planet a long time ago. Back when the game was first released.

I live in Europe. Don't know if that has got anything to do with it?

OH DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 12 pound credit note and just got the damn game today for nothing, not knowing there would be a GOTY edition with all of the DLC included. I would hold onto the note, but it expires soon.

I'm bloody stupid sometimes. :(

@Tommy Creo

That could've been the BETA which was open to a LOT of people, I know I got a key of a fellow Dtoider!

It's ridiculous that this game hasn't got a release date in the UK, if I knew for certain that it was coming out over here, I would have held out on getting the non GOTY version.

Wow took them long enough to release a demo for the game. Wow that's fucked up the game hasn't been released in the UK yet.
