Even if you aren't so keen on the prospect of Star Wars characters being placed inside of the Soulcalibur universe, this latest trailer for Soulcalibur IV should still get you hot and bothered.
For those of you that don't recognize the "secret apprentice" from the end of the video, he's actually the main character for the upcoming Star Wars:The Force Unleashed.
I'll be honest here, I think that the inclusion of Starkiller (no really, that's his name) is nothing more than a cheap way to promote The Force Unleashed. It's one thing to have well known characters like Darth Vader and Yoda in Soulcalibur IV, but come on now.
Then again, it's not like we'll be forced to play as Starkiller, and extra content is extra content, so I suppose it's not as big of a deal as I'm making it out to be. Or is it?
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Methinks that including Starkiller was the condition Lucasfilm/Arts gave for letting Namco put in Vader and Yoda. Having three characters from another franchise in the same (non-crossover) game is still really weird though.
1. Starkiller isn't a ridiculous name, its an homage to Lucas's original name for Luke which was Luke Starkiller. It was then changed because the last name "Starkiller" didn't sound right for the hero.
2. Marketing ploy, yeah probably but its cool to see shit like this done between developers. The Spartan in DOA4, Hayabusa armor in Halo 3, and Altair's costume in MGS4, all cool little additions.
my goodness, can this game be ruined any more than it already is?
Seriously, at least I could deal with SCII's guest lineup. This nonsense...I can't even think of what to say.
Its always nice to see additions that are free. But I'd rather not see Star Wars characters in SC. Like my bitching or not. I would've preferred a true Hwang/Li Long return over guest characters.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still gonna pick this up, as I'm sure it's gonna be awesome. But it isn't a Star Wars game, it's a Soul Calibur game. II was different... Only ONE exclusive character per system, and all from different franchises. Now it's like the entire Star Wars universe is invading --- It's starting to remind me of MK and DC. I swear, if Luke is announced next, I quit.
I don't know, maybe it's just me. But yes, I think Starkiller is nothing but a marketing ploy at this point.
Ah crap, I knew that T rating in the beginning of the video was a bad sign. Ivy is officially censored, just look at her in the video! If this is old news then screw you I've been living under a rock recently.
I don't care one bit. As a Star Wars lover and a fan of Soul Calibur 2 (Spawn FTW!) I don't really see a problem with any of this. Although I would have rather had Luke instead of Yoda on the 360 (Cause of the whole height issue) Having another Jedi that is normal size as an option makes me feel better about picking a Star Wars character for my match ups.
I don't mind the additional characters though I agree that it does cheapen the game a tad. I've yet to play the game and as long as it's much closer to SCII than SCIII, I'll be happy to buy it.
What bothers me is that we've been shown pretty much the same damn trailer over and over for the past several months. "DAMNATION," "SALVATION," "REDEMPTION," yes, we get it! Powerful one-word descriptors add "meaning" to a shallow plot. Thank you. (I still love the Soul Calibur series - except for SCIII.)
Would be nice if they tossed in Luke now to even out the dark and light force users. Wonder if there will be any inter-game compatibility where it alters Starkiller's attacks or something based on how much you have completed.
Why did they think this was a good idea? Soul Calibur is too serious for crazy shit like this. Put Darth Vader in Smash Bros. Actually yeah, they should.
Vader and Yoda I can accept, but this guy has no following and no true badassness mainly because HE HASN'T BEEN IN ANY FREAKIN' GAMES YET. Stupid fucking move.
Sophitia/Cassandra (couldn't tell) looked incredibly hot in the vid. Stockings ftw :)
Meh, it's kind of annoying having THREE characters from the same franchise included, but again, you're not going to be forced to play as him, so I don't really mind that much.

But, what I want more is a Star Wars game with the the Soul Calibur "engine"

I just realized how...generic Starkiller seems. Aside from the ridiculous name, that is.

*Cough*

Is he one to finally kill the Star Wars franchise once and for all?

I'm a star wars nut though, and I'm super excited about SWTFU.
