"The fiend in his own shape is less hideous than when he rages in the beast of man."
What's this? A trailer for an id Software game that starts off with a quote from the Nathaniel Hawthorne's short story, "Young Goodman Brown"? Aren't I supposed to be able to turn off my brain off when firing up an id title?
Sure, the first minute and a half of this latest trailer is pretty convincing in letting us know that yes, there's more to Rage than just action. But it's the last minute or so that makes it very clear: Rage is definitely an id shooter, through and through.
That's a good thing, too, apparently. We sent Steven Hansen out to check out the first three hours of the game, and he tells us things are looking good. Rage is out October 4, but I kinda want it right now.
This looks ridiculously awesome. In fact, this makes me more excited for Rage than any trailer or video before it. This has significantly bumped up on my "must play" list.
I'm mad hype for this game and all, but did they really have to do something so cliche as to name the two central powers in this dystopian, post-apocalyptic environment "the authority" and "the resistance?" Otherwise, this game is looking great, a much needed hardcore id title in this console generation.
Also, is that John Goodman's voice at about the 0:58 mark?
@TysonQ7, @amg0D - The voice actor's name is Steve Blum. And yes, he is awesome. And this game looks bananas. This fall's lineup is just going to wreck my wallet.
Whatever is holding up development on Prey 2, the simple truth remains: we aren't able to play it. And for a game that showed so well, publicly, that sucks. Offering the latest update to IGN, Bethesda VP of PR and marketing P...
God, I'm looking forward to The Evil Within. Shinji Mikami, back doing horror, and backed by one of the few publishers with enough balls left to not stick cravenly to focus-tested sludge. Couldn't be happier with that.

The thought of a massively-multiplayer online The Elder Scrolls on consoles terrifies me. Perhaps I'm just cynical. Logistics aside, it's great in theory to see MMO support on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One -- confirmed for...
Bethesda will be putting out its upcoming MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online on PlayStation 4 in spring 2014, Sony announced this evening.
There's a beta in the works -- of course there is -- that will be available exclusively first on PS4. I must hand it to Sony for sprinkling in these one-sentence "We've got an exclusive!" sentences throughout the E3 press conference.
Yeah, I did a double take, too. Developer Human Head's Prey 2, recently considered vaporware much to the chagrin of all of us who fell head over heels for the Bladerunner-esque title two years ago, resurfaced recently followi...
