Unsure about L.A. Noire in any way, shape, or form? Watch this! It's a lengthy trailer that runs down, well, what Team Bondi's open-world game is actually like, outside of its character's facial expressions.
The bits and pieces of footage shown so far haven't been terribly revealing, but that ends here. Personally, I was afraid L.A. Noire would be entirely shootouts and mindless action sequences; based on this video, there will be a fair amount of case solving, interrogating, and other detective duties. Rad.
My cautious optimism has moved into plain old optimism. Just barely. I'm still not convinced in terms of how much of the game is GTA-esque shenanigans versus how much is uncovering crimes. How are y'all feeling on this one?

"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I want this game inside me. Right now.
...
Aaah, who am i kidding? I want this game. Right now.
Rockstar, you've won me back.
Can I choose to sip coffee and beat hookers as well? It's kind of odd that GTA went from "Kill everyone" to putting you in the shoes od the cops, I think this could be a very cool game....ICE COLD.
The bad being that the game's story wasn't nearly as good as people claim it is. It was decent, but it was sloppy all over. It really bored me to death most of the time, though when it did it right, it did it very right (like the ending).
Also, there's the disconnect at times with the story, the character and the gameplay. Giving someone an open world where they can do anything ends up making characters look hypocritical.
Here, at least, I'm hoping to avoid those issues since the game looks like it'll be more story oriented and otherwise just eyecandy. There's room in this world for both, but Rockstar needs to do better next time they make a really open world with balancing the characters they have. It's hard to connect with a character who says one thing and then you control him while he does the very opposite without it changing anything.

Honestly, if you've been reading anything about this game you would already know it's not. Game looks great.
A) For the 100,000,000th time.. Rockstar isn't making this game. I swear this needs to be posted everytime there's a story about LA Noire.
B) RDR's story was great in that it was exactly what it was meant to be. A spaghetti western. In that regards, whether you like it or not, it seemed to resonate with people and was a great success. I wish more games had the slower pace of RDR. Although I have no idea what you actually mean by "sloppy" or "did it right".

WACKY SMACKIDY DOOOOOOOOOO.
If this game is to be taken seriously as they want it to be, especially if this main character is supposed to be a war hero/vet, his actions and tactics in a shoot out should reflect such experiences. Remember Rockstar, your body actions/reactions matter just as much as being questioned, and looking for facial tells.
This game seems really promising.
I can't wait for this game!!!!
What are you saying? He's right, it's a Team Bondi developed game and people really don't have a right to write it off immediately as "just another Rockstar game"
