A recent patch for the excellent 2D action-adventure title Guacamelee! has regrettably led to a game-breaking problem for players who load up a save file after earning Pollo Power. If you're in a playthrough after that point, you will be permanently stuck in chicken mode upon transforming. As much as I adore being a chicken in the game, that's no good.

Once the issue was found, the patch was understandably pulled. The current workaround, as described by DrinkBox Studios, is to delete Guacamelee! and redownload it on PlayStation 3. For Vita players, the studio advises performing a cloud save via the in-game options menu and then doing the same delete/redownload process for an unpatched version of the game.

The real bummer here is that new downloadable costumes including the ones above have been indefinitely pushed back since they require the aforementioned (working) patch.

El Bundle Fantástico de Guacamelee! está en PSN ahora

Guacamelee! came out early last year, and ended up being my second-favorite game of 2013, with its bright colors, unique setting, and satisfying brawler combat all wrapped up into a Metroidvania. I recommend it whenever ...more

Drinkbox talks Guacamelee DLC, possibility of sequel

Guacamelee! came as a bit of a surprise to me, as I generally don't enjoy brawlers, but the goofy charm and streamlined Metroidvania elements came together to be something genuinely special. Fortunately, the title did really ...more

Here are a few of the craziest references in Guacamelee

Jonathan Holmes and I have been plugging away at Guacamelee for the past week, and I have to say, it's been an incredibly positive experience. Alongside of solid Metroidvania action, DrinkBox Studios created a memorable world...more

Review: Guacamelee!

In popular Mexican culture, the luchador (masked wrestler) isn't just an athlete, he's a cultural icon. El Santo is probably the most power example of the luchador concept's hold on Mexico. Santo started professiona...more

Two weeks: Guacamelee! dated and priced for PS3 and Vita

If you haven't yet heard, hear me loud and clear right now: Guacamelee! looks to be one of the year's great cooperative games. Everything I've played of this Metroidvania brawler has me convinced you'll want to secure $14.99...more

Metroidvania-brawler Guacamelee! is guacamazing

One of my favorite parts about Mexican cuisine is its cohesiveness. It's a property found in all my favorite types of foods: Italian, Chinese, etc. You take a swath of semi-disparate elements, tie them together with a sauce, ...more

E3: Guacamelee! on Vita is bueno, but needs tweaking

For the past two months, I've been hearing good things about Guacamelee!, a colorful, luchador-themed Metroidvania game from DrinkBox Studios. Saying "Metroidvania" is usually good enough for me to be interested, but adding i...more

I still haven't beaten that Bloodborne TGS demo

Usually seeing a demo you played just a month ago means there isn't too much more to wring out. This is not the case with Bloodborne. The Tokyo Game Show demo bested me. That same demo was playable today at Paris Games Week. ...more

Laser Fury looks like Diablo but neon and radical

I do not mean to suggest that Diablo is not good, but the dreary look never really grabbed me, even with Diablo III's improvements in that respect. Laser Fury, on the other hand, takes a hold of my eyes immediately...more
