Today's the day! The latest episode of Qore hitting the PlayStation Network today will contain access to the Resistance 2 public beta, according to the official PlayStation blog. The price of a single episode is $2.99, so you'll have to decide whether or not that's worth it to you; the episode will also contain some gameplay footage and interviews, all of which seem like jokes compared to the idea of the Resistance 2 beta.
Keep in mind that this will not be the only way to enter the beta. Insomniac has promised future details on a pre-order program that will also grant you access to the anticipated beta program.
I'm going to be honest: I haven't purchased and downloaded a single episode of Sony's digital PlayStation Network magazine/video series, Qore. Sure, the show's host, Veronica Belmont (no relation to Simon, I'm told), was voted by Playboy readers as one of the "sexiest bloggers," but that's really not enough to guarantee a sale. Also, I'm bitter that Dale North wasn't nominated.
Is this a must have for anyone? I'm definitely considering slapping down $2.99 myself. Hey, maybe I'll even really enjoy Qore, and wouldn't that be something?
[Update: To clarify, you must subscribe or already be a subscriber to Qore in order to be granted access to the beta. Simply buying this one episode won't do the trick.]
STOP! Don't fall into this trap just for the Resistance beta key.
You can also get a beta key by pre-ordering or something.
Also you don't get the beat key today, but on a later to be announced date. The Socom beta key with Qore 1 (two months ago) will only become available on Septmber 9th. That is one week after the preorder beta keys.
Yeah, waiting for about a month for a Beta is horrible! But no one complained when they bought $60 Crackdown for a shot at the Halo 3 Beta that was released a little over a month later.
Insomniac's community guy, Bryan Intihar, says you only get into the beta with an annual sub to Qore in the comments.
I'm not even touching that 24.99 until they at least give subscribers something other than Calling All Cars. And I'm certainly not paying to beta test someone's game. They should just get over themselves and call it a stress test or promotional access or something else. People should get paid to beta test.
@XrayZwei: "Insomniac's community guy, Bryan Intihar, says you only get into the beta with an annual sub to Qore in the comments."
That is such Bullshit. So basically, when you buy the single eps you are just paying for fluff pieces in which you still have to watch FUCKING COMMERCIALS? I could understand giving a full PSN game for the annual subs, but for betas?
Well, I guess the last episode was in fact, my last episode. They have officially gone into ripoff territory.
I got a sub on day 1 and haven't regretted it. Its a little treat I look forward to every month. Of course if its your last 25 bucks, dont blow it on this, beer and prostitutes are more important. However if you have the cash, the videos are good quality and the dls and betas are nice perks.
Qore is awful. I subscribed day one and they never cover the games I do care about unless they're just giving me old information. "Oh, here's some shit about Resistance 2 you already knew about. But check out all this new Naruto information!" It's Naruto. No one cares.
They need to exploit their first party stuff so they can actually break news with Qore and deliver a month's worth of content. These episodes only ever last an hour or so. They'd be perfect if they came out every week.
Okay, as much as I just bashed on Qore, screw you, XrayZwei.
Bryan Intihar didn't say that Qore would be the only way to get in the beta. He said the exact opposite. They're setting up a pre-order program to let people in too.
I can handle pre-ordering a game as the money that you use to "secure" your copy pays down the actual amount that you will be paying in the end when the game reaches your greasy palms.
Subscribing to something to get the beta is more of a waste but I'm sure some people will jump on this.
I just bought the new episode because it says right in the info about it that it includes "an invitation to the Resitance 2 Beta" With no mention of having to subscribe. So take that update down, it scared me.

Like you said, this won't be the only way to get into the beta.
Hell, I still need to beat the first game.

This whole Qore thing is turing out to be one big scam. Betas we don't get for months, ads we pay to watch, and shilly crap reporting by a perky ditz.

Qore = wasted potential.

At least my complaints about Qore are real.
XrayZwei was talking about if you did it through the Qore method, he wasn't saying it was the ONLY only way to get into the beta.
