Quantcast

Dragon Quest and live-action weirdness go together like pancakes and peanut butter -- the combination isn't necessarily obvious, but the two fit nicely when you put them together.

This time around, a costumed party travels across the grassy plains to advertise the upcoming Japanese release of the Dragon Quest IV remake for the Nintendo DS. The covered wagon in the commercial represents the addition of a party-containing wagon to the series, first introduced in the original 1990 Famicom release. Also, I've added that blonde to my party.

Hit the jump to see a couple of other Dragon Quest live-action madness, including the 1990 commercial advertising the original release of this game.

The 2nd to the last dq commercial seems more epic than the others IMO.

lol it must be the lighting, the smoke and wind with the old dragonball -esque narrator

Man, I LOVE peanut butter and pancakes! THat is some seriously devilish shit. And the peanut butter acts as delicious armor against the onslaught of the syrupy goodness.

The last one is really terrible. It's as if Enix figured "Hey, why bother to spend any money on an ad? Let's just film some people around Japan, splice some game footage, and call it a day! The game's gonna sell like hot cakes anyway, right?"

Terrible.
