I wonder how much longer development on the main game took because of this DLC. Shame this game looks boring as shit.
The thing I don't get about this game;
It's trying to remain faithful to the film noir genre of the 40's-50's, then why the excessive violence?

Clearly the best pre-order bonus. But I think I'll be sticking with my $30 pre-order from gohastings.com.
Or I'll just buy it from amazon and use the money I saved by not paying tax and the likely 10-15% cheaper selling price and just buy the dlc when they release it for everybody anyway. Did I mention I don't pay shipping? Oh, also there is nobody there trying to get me to subscribe to their magazine or their club or to buy the xbox version instead.
Not a fan of Gamestop but will do this one i guess....it really does look like mafia meets phoenix wright investigation stuff. But i hope an additional preorder bonus will be the four barrel shotgun from bulletstorm, just for max :)

So to get the full game, you have to buy it from a certain store. Just imagine how consumers would react if DVDs were marketed that way. Yeah, you can buy this copy of Inception, but there's a chunk of story missing in the middle and to see that part, you have to buy yours from Filmstop...
I think one of the other preorder bonuses is a mission as well. So if these are truly exclusives we will never be able to play all missions?

Given that the Red-Dead DLC was going for like $25 on ebay after the game's release, I think I'll pre-order this, keep the DLC code, then return the unopened disc the following day. Mwahaha
This news has may have officially turned me away from purchasing the game. Costumes are one thing but penalizing your customer by not including a mission for not purchasing from a specific venue is bad business.
This is the kind of stuff that makes me want to pirate games. My choice of retailer doesn't allow me to get the full game. Pass on LA Noire.
This shit is so annoying. I wish I could just buy the game everywhere and get the complete game. I have to go to a gamestop rather than a potentially closer store and I have to take the time to activate the additional content. That inconveniences me and I don't have the time for it. Looks like another game I won't be buying next year, I've got more than enough quality video-games to choose from, not to mention the new handhelds.

I don't like the practice of limiting game content to specific retailers, but I can't lie. I'm still going to buy it. I'm going to buy the hell out of it.
I agree with folks who think this games looks a little dull. But, I had that same feeling about Red Dead, and it turned out to be great. I am willing to give Rockstar the benefit of the doubt on their game. But I never pre-order. And I have a distaste for these special bonuses.

If gamestop wants to add bonuses when you buy from them, great. They should reward all their customers. Preorders get the bonus of being available day 1, anything else is pretty much bribing people.

@Stevil I got a "Laura" vibe from it as well. Especially the painting of her over the fireplace. That being said, Laura's death was never a suspected suicide.
@MasterBalls Film noir was plenty violent for the time, and it's source material was even more so (the detective novels many of the plots were based on). And think of how much more violent they would have been if it were not for the Hays Code. I'm currently in a film class about film noir and I think as long as their is a decent ratio between detective work and gun battles it should feel fine.
