L.A. Noire may be getting exclusive content on PS3 photo

L.A. Noire looks set to be receiving some exclusive content on the PlayStation 3, according to several pieces of evidence. The content comes in the form of a new mission, The Consul's Car Traffic Case, and Rockstar itself has promised details soon.

Fans were first tipped off to the news by Amazon and GameStop, both of which feature PS3 box art bearing the legends, "Exclusive content" and "Only on PS3." This was later followed by Rockstar Network uncovering a promotional image mentioning the content by name.

At the time of writing, Rockstar is not confirming any exclusive content, but has acknowledged that Car Traffic Case is a thing. It has stated that "more details on that are coming soon."

While the Xbox 360 usually strong-arms itself some timed exclusives, the PS3 has come up trumps in the past with some cool extras of its own, so it won't be surprising to see L.A. Noire following the likes of Arkham Asylum. The question is -- would it influence your purchasing decision?

It's an interesting contrast in marketing methods. Microsoft purchases timed, post-release DLC, while Sony usually purchases exclusive content, even if it's relatively minor.

I'd think the exclusive content would be the way to go, assuming the timed DLC is released to all platforms eventually, and the exclusive content stays exclusive, neither of which is always the case.

I'm getting it on Ps3 anyway, so yay.

I just hope it's actual EXCLUSIVE rather than TIMED exclusive, because timed exclusivity, no matter which companies are supplying or paying for it, is a fucking DICKMOVE.

I do not care for exclusive (timed or otherwise) DLC. Sony should instead focus on making sure the game runs as well on the PS3... (I'm looking at you Mafia II)

Nice one, Rockstar. I really don't see the point of releasing content on one console but not another, and this isn't just me getting grouchy because I'm a 360 user. Sure, that might attract a few extra punters on Sony's side of the fence, but it just seems a little pathetic.

Feel free to render my comment invalid if it turns out that Rockstar isn't releasing exclusive content on PS3.

Is there really such a thing as purely exclusive DLC? Doesn't most DLC end up making its way over to the other console later on down the road?

This game is such a mess of "exclusive" content (mostly for preordering at various retailers) that I have been turned off.

DLC Isnt much for me to get one game over the other.

I always go by the system first hell I bought dead space 2 on 360.
Since I preferred getting the sequel on the same system as the original rather than getting Extraction for free

But what matters is that this game will bs awesome, no matter what system you get.

I agree with you, and I have a PS3. The only time I like exclusives is when it's balanced, such as a Sony character on the PS3 version and a Microsoft character on the 360 version. Otherwise, it's unfair to the gamer and greedy on the part of the publisher and/or developer. Still, I suppose it's hard to turn down money.

Timed exclusives are more of an annoyance than anything else really. I rarely buy games at launch these days anyways.

TIMED exclusives are not exclusives, in fact. They just annoy owners of other platforms. I don´t like the retail exclusives either, specially because if you doný live in the US, you need to wait, sometimes months after the release of the game, to get the dlc. Real exclusives, the ones where you only get on one platform, could change the decision from multiple platform owners, but not from people who have just one. Maybe affects people thinking about buying a new platform, but exclusive games works better then exclusive dlc.

If there's exclusive content on one system, I'm obviously buying that one... unless their a problem with that version, graphic-wise or something. Same thing happened with Red Dead Redemption. And other non-Rockstar games like Dante's Inferno and Dead Space 2. That's an easy decision for me. Also, exclusive content influences my decisions more than timed exclusive DLC bullshit.

This would actually sway me because LA Noire isn't multiplayer. If it was, 360 would win out hands down.

Was seriously considering this game to buy day one. With console exclusives, I'd rather wait and buy it used several months later. Now, with the PS3 exclusive case, I'll be waiting. Timed exclusives don't do much since there's no cross-platform activity. But, specific console exclusive DLC makes me want to give my $$ to GS instead of the game developer.

it will be released on 360 anyway. Sony likes to throw "exclusive" and "only possible on ps3" pretty much on everything. Mafia 2 too had supposedly "exclusive" content and we know how long it stayed "exclusive" - it's free with every copy of Platinum/Greatest Hits edition on all platforms(and probably for 10$ on xbla/steam).

@sofik: The Betrayal of Jimmy is actually still a PS3 exclusive (unlike Jimmy's Vendetta, which was released on the 360/PC too), if I'm not mistaken. But as I've implied in my previous post, the time and money that was put into the exclusive DLC would've been better spent on making the PS3 version better.

I agree with everyone who says platform-exclusive content is just plain stupid. Pretty much everyone these days who uses the word, "exclusive," KNOWS that it really means "TIMED exclusive." The only sure fire way to determine whether something is truly exclusive and will stay that way is if it is from a first party developer.

I do not buy games with exclusive content like this. Most notably was Batman which I would have picked up on the 360. LA Noire now gets a rental from me. Which is fine because I wouldn't have been able to pick through the other 4 pre-order bonuses anyway.

Simple solution... get both systems. There are enough exclusives on 360 and PS3 to warrant having both. And once you do it's a glorious thing.

I chose to spend my $200 on my daughter's gymnastic lessons. But feel free to ship me an Xbox, money bags. I'm sure you work real hard for your cash and have real responsibilities beyond your own self interests so i understand if you can't... but then your comment wouldn't make any sense.

You have a prolapse dude? Cause you're acting butthurt. Just cause a dude can afford two systems doesn't mean he didn't earn it. No one gives a damn about the fact that you blew two benji's on gym lessons for your kid. That doesn't imply responsibility, just as Flux's comment doesn't imply irresponsibility. Get over yourself.

No, but the fact that he assumes his 'simple solution' is simple. There's nothing simple about just dropping $200 for me, and i imagine, a lot of people. Of course it's relative. If you have income that exceedes your expenses than fine. My point was that his 'solution' is not 'simple' or practicle for the majority. It comes down to your perception of worth. If you work hard for your dollar it will mean more. That's we're my own assumption comes from. I assume that his willingness to patronize those that don't own multiple systems relates to his earn/cost ratio. And that's why i responded... it's simple and immature to assume people can drop their cash like that. It imposes your own situation on the majority.

I suggest you take the 'Diloma4t' out of your name because you instigate rather than solve.

And what the hell do you mean by 'prolapse'? No, all of my internal organs are internal.

fluxanimator said that instead of people voicing their displeasure of a situation they should instead buy two gaming systems. Sorry, but I don't buy that logic. That's not a reasonable solution for many people, and not being able to do so should NOT preclude their right to tell developers and publishers that they dislike a particular business practice.

Exclusive content on ps3 means the game doesn't look as good on ps3 as it does 360. Past games with exclusive content has proven it, though not with all cases (dead space 2, and batman which ran and looked better on ps3)

Sir, I believe you have me mistaken for someone else. I do not care for your explanation of why you perceive his comment as immature, because the fact that you responded in the way you did to him with a "mightier than thou" attitude absolutely abolishes any credibility you could have had. Life is hard. Money is tight. Get over it.

And don't suggest that I change my name based on the fact that you're incapable of understanding irony and wit. Im sure everyone else here understood what I meant by prolapse.

Sorry thought this was a gaming site for GAMERS. Apparently it's more a site for complaining poor babies.

Do you really think developers will ever stop with the exclusive content? No. Solution? Just get both systems. Can't afford it? No problem. But because I can doesn't mean I'm some crazy rich asshole. I'm not the one that came across like my shit doesn't stink. Next time I'm getting ready to buy something cool with my own money maybe I should buy a hobo a 3DS instead.

Ok. flux added "if" to his comment, suggesting that he understands the intricacy. But I admire your staunch FU stance towards people who have to choice between caring for their children and having multiple gaming systems. I explained my arguement against the 'just buy stuff' proposition, and flux himself indicated that that's not a viable solution for all. Why are you so bent on defending a position the original procaimer has distanced himself from?
"Life is hard. Money is tight." Simple... buy another system. You consider that a mature choice?

You know what? I stopped at the part where you said you admire the staunch FU stance were taking against people who have to "make the hard choice to take care of their children."

For one who likes to tout responsibility, you should realize that it's
NOT a choice. It's a damn mandate that happens right at conception. Whether or not you honor that mandate is up to the individual. By your statement, you're playing the victim to try to validate your watery arguement. Even then, gymnastic lessons are NOT required for your child's well being, thus is not "taking care of your children" as much as it's paying for optional extra curricular activities.
