Microsoft’s Kudo Tsunoda has claimed that "hardly anyone" plays first-person-shooter games on the PC anymore, claiming that Halo essentially killed the entire market. Apparently this also proves that Kinect will be a success because of reasons.
"Halo did an awesome job of building a first-person shooter exclusively for the console, and now hardly anyone plays first-person shooters on the PC anymore,” claims the executive in charge of sunglasses. “If you think about the way that first-person shooters evolved, they started on the PC. People for the longest time tried to port shooters from the PC onto the console.
“And people said the same things that they are saying now about Kinect -- ‘It’s never going to be responsive enough to do this,’ or ‘You’re never going to get a fun first person shooter on the console’ -- it’s only made for a keyboard and mouse and that is the way it is supposed to be played.’"
So, to sum up what Kudo has said: Nobody plays PC games anymore because of Halo, and this proves that Kinect isn't shit.
This is where I'd end with a sarcastic counter to what Kudo has said ... but I don't think Kudo needs my help to look silly this time.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Kudo....
Really. Just stop. We all know you're running into a brick wall with Kinect, you can stop trying to deny it.
What?
Suddenly, now they can't milk the PC market with a sub to GFWL for cross-platform, they pretend that market doesn't exist. Smooth.
I won't complain though, provided I don't have to use the abortion that is GFWL any more.
Shut up. Always.
But in all seriousness.. What is this guy talking about?
Actually, that helps him fit in with Microsoft quite well.
You're absolutely correct about the variety of gaming on the PS3. And now, thanks to the Move motion controller, you can add Wii shovelware ports to your variety.
That has got to be the most wrong thing I've heard of a MS dude. Halo is an amazing game but this statement is such bullshit.
Has this guy even heard of TF2???
First off...
Goldeneye made FPS game work on consoles over 12 years ago.
FPS games are one of the most PROMINENT PC genres, the keyboard and mouse controls, sheer power, modability and online fidelity make it the best possible genre for the PC.
The most well respected PC developers make FPS games on it.
The Wiimote already kicks ass as a FPS control method.
Kinect has shown us NOTHING to prove it could handle shooters of any kind. So you aren't doing a very good job.
You fail Kudo, now stop forcing Rare to make casual crap.
altho i have to admit that besides valve games and cod, pretty much all the FPS that came out in the last years have a completely broken mouse support.
Not just any Opium, Microsoft-brand Super Opium. They use it as the sweetener in their coffee there, apparently Kudo needed a jonesing before the interview...
oh and btw, the shift to consoles is what made multiplayer FPSs so shit.
damn autospeller when I can't see the text!
My theory? This is their response to VALVe's Gabe Newell debuting Portal 2 on PS3 at E3. Think about it. Why attack PC? PC Gaming is now basically Steam Gaming, thus, 'take that Steam!'. Microsoft was very mad at what Gabe said during E3, so it makes sense that MS would respond. I guess they were just waiting until reach did well to do so.
But what the actual flip does Kinect have to do with that?
Someone in a prominent position such as my ignorant friend Kudo more and more already confirm what we PC gamers already know. MS could give a rats ass about us.
DX11? can't count more than 3 AAA titles released. GFWL? don't get me started. No wonder why Relic abandoned it for its next DoW title in favour of steamworks.
Oh Valve, where would we be without you. Probably in the gutters (to MS we're already there).
Oh Steam, if you weren't software i'd kiss you. Might even take it to second base...
why would it? it's not like it was ever better than anything we had on pc.
i would imagine most of "us" ignored it and kept playing the games we like.
Do PC FPS allow you to shape your hand into a gun and fire it onto the screen while you go "pew pew"? Exactly. Kinect is the future of FPS ladies and gentleman - Embrace it or die! (okay maybe not die...)
