When I saw video of the first Kororinpa game, I instantly knew it was going to be a must-have for my Wii. It's still one of my favorite games for the console, in part because it actually feels like a game that's designed to make use of the controller's functionality. Now, Konami (who is publishing the game in Europe) has given us a ton of material on the just-announced Kororinpa 2 and, while it looks more than a little bit like its predecessor, I'm giddy as a schoolgirl.

Not everything will be exactly the same in this new iteration. Ten levels of the game will feature support for the Wii Balance Board while the other hundred continue to use the familiar Wii Remote gameplay style as the original. A level editor is also being included in the new game and you'll be able to share levels via WiiConnect 24.

No word yet from Hudson USA as to when I'll be able to get my grubby little hands on this, but Konami announced at Leipzig that it'll hit Europe sometime in Q1 of 2009. I would imagine the rest of us will be seeing Kororinpa 2 around the same time.

Kororinpa is an underrated gem on the Wii. Chad has shown me the light.

Wow! I didn't know that there was a Kororpina 1! I'm going to have to look for this one!

Looks good. It reminds me of Switchball on the PC/XBLA which I rather like. I am concerned, though, of the Wiimote controls not being precise enough.

I guess they didn't want to alienate all the non-balance board owning Wii players out there, but still, only 10 balance board compatible levels is a little shabby.

Even Wii Fit had more "ball in the whole" levels than that.

did anyone else feel that the remote sensitivity needed to be tweaked in kororinpa? i found it awkward when tilting the remote forwards because if ur holding the remote in the standard position its not possible to bend ur wrist as far forward as u can backward.

apart from that, yay kororinpa 2! ^_^

I feel like more frustration and elation are coming my way. Will this support Wii Motion Plus? I think that would make the controls more responsive.

Kororinpa was fantastic. So nothing can go wrong with this one.

Why only 10 levels working with the Balance Board?

Surely if you have it working for one, you can have it working for all?

I understand that some parts of the last game would have been too tricky to play with your feet, but still... let us decide!

Should be good, Kororinpa is a great sleeper of a game. It gets left behind all the other games on Wii, yet it's one of the most addictive and enjoyable :)

Enjoyable? I wanted to kill something after that. Maybe its just the fact that my hands shake, but I found the game amusing yet ultimately frustrating borderline unplayable.
