XSEED Games has announced that they'll be bringing over KORG DS-10 Plus over to America in early 2010. KORG DS-10, in case you're an idiot and haven't been following, is a music-creation program based on the KORG MS-10 music synthesizer.

KORG DS-10 Plus will work with the regular DS, but you'll get more bang for your buck with the DSi. DSi specific features will include 12-voice polyphony, four tracks for analog synthesizer simulating, two drum machines, and two effect layers.

Basically, you can make music with this thing. This would be the point where I would say you should check out the new screens, but there wasn't a single image in the FTP when I looked at it. XSEED Games lied to me. You can, however, check out a video of KORG DS-10 Plus in action up above.

Imagine a current version of Korg synthesizer then a very old machine, which is emulated. its a neat small music app.

Now if only this new Korg DS 10 had a decent tutorial. Because to be fair, for someone like me and many others that never touched a synthesizer, its really hard to pick up. Even the damn instruction manual didn't give much help. And yes, Im aware of Gamefaqs and Youtube, but that doesn't mean XSEED shouldn't make this more user friendly for newbs.

yeah this is a weird one. I tried it and had fun for like 20 mins 'oh shit, that really is like a Korg! Ha!'. Yet it fails in both ways, as a casual, fun experience like Gazp says, it will just bewilder anyone who isn't a musician.

But also it can't handle the necessary inputs and outputs to be useful as a music tool and is limited by the fact that the DS is about as powerful as my grans hearing aid.

And after years spent learning how to use synths and program music properly...I'd rather just you know...use a synth and proper music tools.
