Korg DS-10 is a Amazon Japan exclusive photo

If you're a regular reader, you'll know that I've been freaking the f*ck out over a new Nintendo DS synthesizer called Korg DS-10. It's not a game; it's a music making tool, and people are performing live with it! I preordered this son of a bitch faster than you can say "band geek."

The very importer I preorderd this title with contacted me this morning with some interesting news. The price has been hiked up a bit, from $48.90 to $62.90. Why? It seems that they heard Amazon Japan had the exclusive on this title. National Console Support heard this earlier and passed it off as something that was surely incorrect. Now they've found out that the Korg DS-10 software is indeed an Amazon Japan exclusive. Because of this, their distributor is helping them order copies from Amazon, but this means that they have to pay retail, shipping fees, and taxes.

This means that none of Japan's software and game stores will stock this title. And, anyone who has ever wanted to buy something from Amazon Japan can tell you that they only accept orders from Japan. So your only choice is to go with an importer.

NCS is now sending out emails to those who preordered earlier to reconfirm their interest in the title after this price increase. For me, I'm happy to pay what I need to get it into my hands. They expect that it will ship on July 24th.

That's incorrect, actually. I bought my copy of the Japanese Okami art book through Amazon Japan, as well as a number of CDs, using an American billing address and shipping address.

At last, I was hoping for a release date. Thankfully Play Asia are going to be stocking it.

This is really lame. I herd it was exclusive, then not, now it is again and to top it off it's gonna cost an arm and a leg to get one. This is obviously a KORG sponsored product and since I can buy KORG synths locally you'd think that...

Saw this on the 1up show a few weeks back. Im really interested in the random beat generator/mixer by scribbling the stylus on the screen.

The exclusivity is lame, but the software looks epic. I can't wait

Amazon Japan does? I checked their Web site yesterday and they said they only took orders in Japan. I have a few things I'd like to order off there but I've been holding off. Anyone want to give us a few clues on how to do it, lol?

$63 covers shipping from Japan as well right?

I asked a friend who's done business with them before. Her answer was that Amazon Japan will not ship *certain items* out of the country, and software is one of those items. So yes, you can buy an artbook from them, but not this item.

I'm new to the DS world so don't really know the details of how publishers and developers deal with their games on a worldwide basis, but I can't see any reason why this won't get a worldwide release at some point. As has been mentioned, it got demonstrated on the 1up show last week and they're bringing it to London for music industry shows. I don't see why they would do all this just to turn around and say "If you want it then just have to import it".

It said on the Amazon Japan page for the game that it is Amazon exclusive, for months.

oh and yes, I can confirm that they take worldwide orders, I buy books from there in bulk lots because the shipping is really high to start with but only slightly incremental by weight.

Is Korg DS-10 just software, or is there hardware to it as well?

OH WOW, AWESOME!!!111orz!, 60+ dollars to hunt and peck one key at a time on a fake keyboard...if you want a really want a synth program without the actual "instrument", go download one for an Mac or PC and you'll not only have a better product with endless effects and addons, but you will look 100% less like a tool.

Yeah, I've ordered music CDs through Amazon Japan a few times. I think it's just software that they don't ship overseas. Still, thanks for the link to the importer!

Also "Exchange sounds and songs and play multiple units simultaneously through a wireless communications link" FTW!!!
