Beware, all you fans of the Royal Rainbow and every vaguely homoerotic implication that it carries: Katamari Damacy Online is gearing up to hit your PC by late 2007 -- well, for Koreans, anyway. Intrepid translators at Insert Credit, by way of Japanese gaming blog 4gamer, noted the following: Not sure how this'll work, but Korean dev Cyberstep (of GetAmped fame), in association with Windysoft, is bringing Katamari Damashii Online to PCs, says 4gamer. They signed a contract in November of 2006, and have begun development with aims at a late 2007 release. Basically it's going to take the versus battle stages from the PS2 and PSP games and plant them into an online arena. There will also be community management stuff, and there will be 'pet' and 'house' elements, with collectibles and whatnot. You can make your own island, and get new clothing and whatnot from items you gather while playing. Who knows if us Western gamers will get our hands on it, but I certainly hope so. Despite its flaws and the PSP's best attempt to prove otherwise, Katamari Damacy remains one of my favorite series to date; going up against eight other people in a battle for Katamari supremacy would be more than welcome. how much can you do with katamari multiplayer that's gunna make online play a lot of fun?
digg it!!
I thought Me & My Katamari was brilliant on the PSP.
Since it's being made by a Korean company, expect a lot of clothing options and cutsey graphikks.
And I concur with Magesx's opinion. Katamari on the PSP was pretty decent considering the lack of a second nub.
when I fisrt read that I started to think of katamari the MMOrpg then I was WHAT WHAT!? haha
like^
The only thingI didn't like was the level-changing levels. Especially when you're about to pick up that cousin, and then bam. "YOU'RE DONE HERE, PRINCE."
God bless sticky balls and all who love them.
That didn't come out right.
Katamari on PSP would've been great if 90% of it wasn't played on the same level. I'm looking forward to this, though, I hope it makes its way over here and is Mac-friendly.
I love Katamari (as the sequel so egotistically states), but is the multiplayer really worth anything? This seems like a poor attempt at cashing in on something to me...
is this going to be an authorized version? Sounds like a weird grey market pirated version of katamari to me.
I never really dug the console Katamari's multiplayer options.
CONTROLS?!
