I am going to readily admit that this is only tangentially videogame related, and even then I'm probably pushing it, but after watching the above trailer I could not stop myself from posting something about the upcoming movie Kuky Se Vrascí (Kooky's Return). The film is about a boy who has to throw away his beloved teddy bear, Kooky. After doing so he starts to imagine the adventures Kooky is going on as the teddy bear tries to make his way home. Watch now and then I'll connect it to videogames for you.
The style feel vaguely familiar to you? You've either seen academy award winning director Jan Svěrák's other movies (not very likely) or played Machinarium. Amanita Design, the guys behind Machinarium, are working on the movie. Jakub Dvorský of Amanita Design is getting the production design credit and I think it shows throughout the entire trailer. The distinctive feel of their games is definitely shining through in it and making me want to see the movie bad.
The YouTube video should have English subtitles on it some time soon (if not now), but we'll have to wait until the film releases in May to actually see it. Most likely we'll also have to find an art house cinema as I doubt the Czech film will get a wide release in the U.S.
My movie review show, Movie Defense Force, has another videogame film in its sights this week, which means a chance for some saucy cross-promotion on the pages of this great Destructoid of ours.
