I'd say have Kojima give the Fox Engine to Grasshopper, have ex Team Silent guys still at Konami and Masahiro Ito contribute, and slap the Kojipro logo on it so it magically sells more like Lords of Shadow. I would buy twelve copies.
If I remember correctly, The current silent hill team can't seem to follow the sime rule that monstersare specific to each experience. 1 was the nightmare Alessa experienced if I remember correctly. James and others subconscious in 2. And from the god in heather. After The Room, the reused and messed the idea up. This man already knows what he is doing since MGS 1- 4!
Get back some veteran Silent Hill talent and I think we may have a winner here. Some ex-Vatra guys can work too
also Downpour was a massive steaming pile of shit and I only bought it thanks to your review Sterling, you owe me an apology and 50 bucks pal
The Silent Hill series is to me as Mary is to James Sunderland. I once loved it, but now it's sickly and disgusting and it won't let me fuck it anymore and now I just want it to die.
holy shit agree!!
in fact i actually stop playing MGS2 because of colonel :P
@Anjon
another good point.
he already amde scary characters like The Sorrow and Psycho Mantis. imagine a silent hill game occurring ideas from their heads O___O
@Sweet Surrender
freaking agree!!!!
i won't be surprised if some of team silent members in kojima productions would be delighted to work with the series :P
also partnering Suda 51 and Akira Yamaoka for the dream team would be awesome too!!!!!
oh and get Suda 51 to handle the remake of Snatcher please!!!!!
Good as Tomm Hulet's intentions were for the series, he did about as much for the series as Apaloosa did for Contra. I'm looking forward to this!
As for people who say it might not have too much story or not a lot of gameplay... there is no one else at Konami who can do justice to this series anymore. This is it's last chance!
Well, way to jump the gun on it, Jim.
Yes, Kojima is possibly my most favorite producers ever, so to have him be on one of my all time favorite game series is a blessing.. But we don't know AT ALL how that can turn out.
Think about it: Kojima is known for his WAAAAY too long and out there cut scenes and plot developments.. Do we really want that in Silent Hill, or do we want to actually play the game?
Now most people probably say, "Boom, 'out there' should be good for this series," and thats true.. But too far out there and we've got a diluted mess. These games are already riding a line, and if he goes over it (and if he does, he'll surely go WAY over it) it'll just break things further. Part of the joy to Silent Hill that I find is that we CAN understand it, while its still delightfully over the top. -Metal Gear has a tendency to stray too far.
Also, seriously, how many projects is this guy on? Or will be on? I know he's basically the industry equivalent of Superman, but everyone has their limits and limits can be stretched beyond reach. His priority will probably remain to his own titles, so I have a weird feeling that down the line, after his attempt at the series, we'll be hearing stuff much similar to what we heard from Mercury Steam a few years after Lords of Shadow, about how they didn't have a damn clue about how to handle certain aspects of the game, and Konami didn't offer any real help.
Granted, Kojima's actually an integral part of Konami, and he's much more then a competent developer with a high attention to detail, but like I said, that doesn't mean his other responsibilities won't get in the way.
