Kojima: Someone else make MGS5 ... please photo

Every single entry in the Metal Gear Solid series (barring the first) has been Hideo Kojima's "last" MGS. He claims he'll step away from the series every time but it seems like a compulsion for him -- like kleptomania, only with longer cutscenes.

It really gives the impression that he can't help himself, especially since he's already dreamed up three concepts for Metal Gear Solid 5 but needs his team to help him not make them. He's hoping that someone in Kojima Productions will have a better idea than him so he doesn't have to work on MGS5

I have three concepts for MGS5 already. What would be ideal for me with MGS5, though, is that we don't do those. If the team picks one of those concepts, I have to get involved again, which I don't want to do. There are already so many good ideas from the staff, so if we select one of those, that would be really good. At that point I could really rely on them and take the step back to be the producer, which is the ideal situation, I think.

Oh Kojima-San, you are absolutely insane

While Hideo is like a messiah of gaming to me, I wouldn't mind him taking a step back from Metal Gear. I'd like to see him have the time to create something brand new. Kojima notes that the MGS4 team is returning from their vacation, so the next Metal Gear will likely be decided soon. Somehow, I can't help but feel that Kojima will be as involved as ever.

I'll make Metal Gear Solid 5 if they'll hire me to do it.

I think Hideo had enough of working on the same franchise for so many years. He should probably do what Shigsy did with zelda, stepping out and leaving someone else (in this case Aonuma) to run the project and he'll just come in every once in a while and check out how the game's developement is going.

The series has already gone full circle. Why not just finish with MGS4?

@Johnny Justice

Because I haven't had a chance to make one.

@Tyrian3

"he'll just come in every once in a while and check out how the game's developement is going."

For me, he won't be able to do this. He'll pop in casually, next thing you know it's 3 days later and the man has gone nuts and re-done the whole thing. If he lets go, he need to reeeelly let go.

I agree with Jim (again!). I'd like to see him bring a new IP to the table... Less long cutscenes though, they only were allowed to fly because we really knew the characters already in MGS4.

I think he really wants to let go - but he won't because Metal Gear is like a child to him, and he needs to direct it, otherwise he feels it will crash and burn and he can't stand that. The only way Hideo will ever stop making Metal Gear games is if the series stops entirely. For good. Which might not be so bad - what else can they do except for remakes? I certainly hope they don't make a new character like "solid-er snake" or give raiden a new game.

With or without Hideo, I will play MGS5 if they make it. I've loved every other game in the series (flaws and all) so why stop there. The series has been consistently fun, unpredictable and moving all at the same time.

I would really like to see more of The Boss, but, If that is the case, it would just seem wrong to have anyone else but Kojima handle that character.

I'm all about Kojima leaving MGS for another game, it's just cruel to tie a man with ideas to one franchise...as long as it's not ZoE. I'd personally staple everyone on the team to a computer to make another ZoE.

They should let me, who has never played an MGS game, make it. It'll be interesting.
