It sounds like gamescom 2010 was an eye opener for Kojima Productions. Their crative director, Shigenobu Matsuyama, told VideoGamer that he's embracing the Xbox 360 and now even thinking about the PC as a future platform for their games.
At gamescom Matsuyama said "We see publishers - Capcom have started a little bit earlier than us - and I can say most of the Japanese studios have seen the importance of going multi-platform, and our studio as well."
"I think we're now really ready to go multi-platform at once, I mean development cycle wise. I think this will be a normal trend for Japanese studios in the future."
And PC gamers in Europe might have helped PC gaming out by showing up and making a stink.
Matsuyama on PC: "What surprised me when I came to Germany were also the PC games," he said. "Living in Japan, PC games are not really mainstream, but seeing them here I thought that this PC area is also a place that we need to consider more seriously."
I bet Metal Gear Solid: Rising does very well on the Xbox 360. It's hard for me to shake the PlayStation association with the franchise, but I still believe that multiplatform is best for all publishers.

The MGS2: Substance for Xbox was great. It was actually better than the original until it was re-released on PS2.
For some reason I feel like it's going to be easier for people to break the MGS association with PS than it was for FF. I'm still pretty confident Rising will sell better on PS3 though.
With that said, however, I hate it when one console version ends up being the obvious better version. If you're going to do multi-platform, do it right. As long as MGS moving to 360 doesn't result in future PS3 versions shitting the bed, I'm okay.
Yeah I'm not sure what wtf Lenigod is talking about since Substance was pretty damn bad ass. Not to mention the remake Twin Snakes for the GameCube. Which ultimately proves that MGS is an awesome series regardless of which system it's on. If they want to take the multiplatform further then I'm all for it. Assuming, as previously stated, that the games don't differ too greatly.
They had the first game on the PC, too. That kind of bombed, also.
I'm not taking a stab at the series or anything (I'm totally getting Rising) but it's still considered niche, isn't it?
