Kojima: Peace Walker will make you buy a PSP photo

One should think that everybody who ever wanted a PSP now has one, but mad genius Hideo Kojima believes that there are plenty of people ready to be turned into fans, and that Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is the game to do it. How will this happen? Well, that's a secret!

"There's an unannounced system that will surprise you. It will make you want to rush out and buy a PSP," boasted the MGS creator while chatting with Famitsu.

What could this secret system be? I find it hard to believe that non-PSP owners are going to chomp at the bit for anything related to the portable PlayStation, but I'm sure current adopters are in for a treat. The game's already looking amazing, so quite what this system will be is anybody's guess. I'm going to make my own bet that it will involve the PS3 somehow, and possible connect with MGS4.

What are your guesses?

Isn't it obvious?

Kojima is going to rid the world of nuclear arms through the medium of video games.

That or we can download different characters from different ip addresses... again -.-'

I want the option to plug my DualShock 3 via USB or Blutooth (on the PSPGo) to play it with an acceptable controller. I know they're changing the controls after the TGS demo, but playing that was more than an eye opener: I had a REALLY fun Metal Gear game with a ridiculous presentation, with abortive controls. *sigh*

Also, I want to be the first to make this pun: Sony should market a Playstation line of sports shoes, with optional DualSock 3 support.

Maybe, but there's no way I can find a 1000 model with old firmware anymore.

"It will make you want to rush out and buy a PSP"

One word: No.

Elaborated:
No chance in fucking hell I would buy a PSP you crazy little man.

I like metal gear, but I hate the PSP, I find it ugly, over priced, and no game on the system interests me in any way. If I want to see Peace Walker I'll wait for a playthrough to be available on youtube.

@Gestault

I don't understand why Kojima feels the need to have a 3rd person camera for the game. I would be fine with a fix camera position like MGS1, 2 and 3... which in turn, would free up a lot of the controls.

I ordered a PSP from Japan before they were out in Europe (or America). Kept me occupied for a long time, but now its just wasted space. For me, its either a PSPgo or never again.

His last Metal Gear game made me buy a PSP and I still kinda regret it.

Sorry no. I already regret buying my DS mostly because there's rarely ever a time I feel like playing a portable. I basically have to make time which means I probably have access to my TV which I'd much rather play games on. Now if they put this on PSN (even if all they did was up-res what they already have), I would totally play Peace Walker.

I think it's going to have something to do with the different Snake loadouts and the co-op. Snake trading?

Or, if it is PS3 connectivity related, maybe something like being able to Download your MGO character to the game...

Eh, who knows...

My guess is...

After 2 hours of cinematic, the game turns into a date sim, and you get to date Akina Minami.

And thats the only way Hideo can make me like the MGS series....

It comes with a code to download the original Metal Gear Solid plus it has Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear: Ghost Babel (the GameBoy Color game) and the ability to hook it up with the PS3 and play with a controller on your TV.

THAT would make people buy a PSP to get this game.

@gamadaya
I see what you did there, you don't need a 1000 to be a super haxxor, in fact, you can pirate even the 3000, most of the 3000s are hackable and ALL the 2000s are hackable, all by firmware; if you unlock it by the hardware method (changing the battery to a pandora battery) every PSP is hackable, including the Go!

well if it's in keeping with Sony's vision for the PSP then they will simply re-release MGS portable ops with less functionality and a higher price point. But the packaging will be. so. shiny.

Oh wait, PSPGoers won't even get the packaging. Double fail. Ha.

Strangely enough, the proper phrase is champ at the bit, not chomp. It's weird; I know. I never knew this either until I came across it in the AP Style Book. It refers to what a horse does when excited before a race. They champ, not chomp. I'm not calling you out, Jim. EVERYONE gets this wrong. And if you do it right, everyone will look at you funny. I just thought it was an interesting factoid.

Also cocks.

I remember reading somewhere about how the game's allegedly incorporating Vocaloid technology to make one of the characters sing... Maybe there's a cross-promotion in the works with Project DIVA? I'm really reaching, here.

You have to buy the system in order to play the game.

Captain Obvious Logic Award has been given to Hideo Kojima, folks.

@Naim Master:
Yeah, but Pandora battery is extra money, and I already know how to hack the 1000, but not anything else. I could learn I guess, but it would probably be a hassle and I could just borrow my friend's PSP to play the game.

If it comes with ZOE 3, I'll unbury my PSP, otherwise, I'll chalk this up to the same kind of nonsense he was spouting about being able to choose sides in the MGS4 conflict, which is to say UTTER LIES!

I bought a ps3 just for mgs4, now I use it mostly for BluRay. It would be nice if it'll be playable on the ps3 without a psp. I am eager to hear what he has in store.

You do realize that there were two Metal Gear games on the NES and a Metal Gear Solid remake for the GameCube called "The Twin Snakes", right? Would be nice if they would bring the original MSX2 games to the PSP since the PS2 re-release of MGS3 that had them is hard to find now. That wouldn't be this "MUST HAVE" feature...but it would be nice.

I'm thinking a bit of ad-hoc party support and the release of ad-hoc party for US/Europe - it's fucking brilliant once you manage to decipher the japanese and set it up. Works a treat with Monster Hunter. Here's hoping for some online via ad-hoc party or even via infrastructure.

I don't give the slightest shit about Peace Walker. What I do give a shit about are the various PSP Warriors titles, which are the sole reason I'm buying a PSP this weekend.

Choke that bitter load down, Kojima.

Portable Ops is certainly in my favourite PSP games list, for sure. Along with Monster Hunter Freedom unite (fucking winner of a game!) Chains of Olypus, Final Fantasy Tactics and the other recent one which was wicked! The GTA's and the Burnout's and KZ Liberation.....

...hang on, the PSP lineup is fucking wicked! Why was I thinking there are only a few good games?!

i love my PSP.
