Hideo Kojima and Metal Gear Solid have become synonymous with one another. To be fair, you can't really blame us for fusing the two entities together when he puts his name and face into the game at any given opportunity, but nevertheless, Kojima is feeling the sting of becoming so well known for his creation, as he tells Develop magazine about the pressure to produce sequels.
"Yeah, there's absolutely pressure there," he confesses. "Maybe if I quit Konami that pressure might be a bit better, but since Konami handles the business side of our operations, yeah, there's definitely a demand continue a series as successful as Metal Gear."
Kojima does go on to state that what fans demand of a Metal Gear game might only be possible from his own studio, but he would not rule out the idea of another team tackling the game. He likens his vision of a future games industry to Hollywood, where there is someone who funds and someone who creates, with a "clear distinction" between the two. That's definitely something we need, especially looking at some of the comments to this article, where people simply assume that Sega is making the new AvP, not publishing it.
Back on the subject of pressure, I think most hardcore Kojima fans would actually be desperate to see him try something new. I know I've been eager to watch him strike out from the MGS series for a while now.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

Cress. Too tempting, even for Jesus.
Just for you Konami, what I want to see:
Ring of Red 2 (this one I'd love to see
ZoE 3 (should have had this ages ago
A new 3D Sunset Riders game (with a cameo from Revolver Ocelot
Snatcher and Policenauts on DS/PSP
A new Lucky and Wild 3D remix (a concept that would work great in single and multiplayer
You can leave MGS alone for a while, as these would do nicely. Perhaps a bit more outsourcing would help them.
A Metal Gear game about Raiden could be completely awesome and could be done as more of a hand-to-hand combat game instead of gunfights.
