Hideo Kojima says that we aren't getting some remastered, retooled, refried version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater in the upcoming 3DS re-release, due out in Japan on March 8, 2012. The game creator recently met with Japanese press and said that Snake Eater 3D would be a full remake, created from scratch and optimized for the 3DS hardware.
While I'm up for any configuration that gives me Snake Eater in portable form, it's nice to know that Kojima wants more for this game. These flat ports are making me tired.

Shtuff upgraded for the new technology and consoles.
Now to wait for Snake's Revenge in glorious HD, with polygons and what-have-you.
This was on my list since the 3DS launch but after HD collection idk, I have to see what this game will offer over the original, especially if its gonna be a full priced 3DS game.
Some of us prefer to game on handhelds over consoles so we don't have to worry about transfarring, and this is the first portable version of MGS3, so it's not TOO terrible of an idea; different market.
You can transfar on the Vita, which is portable.
It's also getting an HD version of 3, with two other games for about the same price as this. Unless you're a Nintendo fanboy who hates the Vita, it's hard to justify buying this, unless the 3D is REALLY good.
I'm waiting for the real PS Vita to come out, not the rushed version on Feb 22nd.
I'm still somewhat interested in this, but I really think this should have been released at least a year before the HD collection. I feel the same way about Cave Story 3D, the game looks great and I'm definitely going to get it, but releasing that around the same time as Cave Story + is just a bad move.
MGS3 3D is a neat idea, and I may pick this up year down the line, but the MGS HD Collection It's a significantly better value. Though at the very least this will satisfy the people who only want to play MGS 3 with 3D, and what I heard in reports was that the 3D is really good.

I can't wait to play this on the 3DS, even if I get to it on the 360 first. More Snake is better then no Snake.
And Ahoyhoy is right, both those games were full remakes, however Star Fox 3D is a much easier target for bitching because of its flat use of multiplayer then OoT was for improving what was already there and giving us more.

Maybe the engine is remade, but I guarantee the assets aren't. They wouldn't re-record all that audio for example.
Pisses me off the HD collection doesnt support HD even though it's 1080p 60fps already.
By the way, OOT 3D and SF64 3D are good games, but they feel alot more like ports than remakes. Just because some things in the game are different (namely the graphics) doesn't make them full remakes.
Why wouldn't you be able to hook it up to a tv, you can with the psp.
I don't think the Vita will have removed that.
