Mad genius Hideo Kojima has been using his Twitter account to do what he does best -- babble incomprehensibly about things and making the rest of us scratch our heads. The Metal Gear Solid creator has remarked upon a game we know next to nothing about, Metal Gear Solid: Rising, though what he says is typically vague and silly.
"The next MGS ... RISING," begins the director. "This game will create new users, be developed by the new generation, a new MGS, but on the other hand, [Peace Walker] is made by Hideo Kojima, a new but classical MGS. PW is a new type of game design and experimental for future endeavours. So it is hard to say it will finish with one game ... "
Most of that looks like the rambling of a nutcase (not helped by the fact that English isn't our hero's first language), but the general gist seems to be that Rising is an all-new take on the Metal Gear Solid franchise and aims to grab new fans, as opposed to the more traditional Peace Walker. Sounds fair enough to me. I can't wait to play either of them!

that being said, i cant wait to play both peacewalker and MGS...RISING! --lol
As a new MGS fan this excites me.
i think it'll play like a hack-n-slash action game, i would be surprised if Kojima doesnt add his own craziness to it though
Bringing an exclusive franchise to a new format will get new users!
Who'd have thunk it?
exactly, plus we more or less know Rising will be a slasher type game so people previously uninterested in the MGS franchise will likely give it a spin
What I was thinking. The cyborg-ninja focus and tagline might indicate a more streamlined stealth (like we saw in Arkham Asylum) and a larger focus on combat and action. Not necessarily a bad thing. Though often slow (but fun) pace of traditional MGS gameplay didn't always match up with the fast-paced storytelling. Could be a compelling shift if this theory bears fruit.
Pot. Kettle. Black.
Kojima's intentions on making it a PSP game were for some insignificant market consisting of "kids whose parents won't let them play consoles," all the while dismissing the console market.
Why not release the same game, graphics and all, as a downloadable game for PS3 users? It's not an outrageous request, and it would certainly pool in more money.
there are more PSPs out there than PS3s or 360s. Not quite an insignificant market.
Why not release the same game, graphics and all, as a downloadable game for PS3 users?
Because Sony is gonna sell a ton of PSPs with this game. Kojima isn't the only one who decides what system a game should be released on.
now that sounds like a great idea!
...of course there will be new users.
Someone's gotta bail Kojima out of Konami tho...the guy should be allowed to work on something not MGS related if he wants to.
And I wasn't referring to PSP's as a whole, it was that specific market.
"Kids whose parents won't let them play consoles."
Is there some kind of statistic comparing kids with consoles and handhelds/kids without?
I'd love to see a more fast paced action game with ninja Raiden at the helm, as long as it's story still confuses the hell out of us.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was a long winded desperate cry for help from Kojima. Unfortunately, all his fans did was beg for MOAR METAL GEEER and here we are. There's a reason he never looks happy in pictures.
