Kojima hoping to improve MGS: Peace Walker controls photo

Have you all had a chance to download and play the Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker demo? I certainly have, and I thought it was pretty damn promising. Despite the generally positive feedback, however, Kojima Productions is listening to its fans and the studio's looking into making some improvements to the controls.

When you try and bring a console experience to the PSP, you have to compromise and do your best with the limited control interface, and the developers did well enough to provide two control methods -- Action and Shooting. After reading what people have had to say at TGS and on a variety of message boards, Kojima Productions is hoping to make changes "at a quick pace" to make sure this game is everything the fans want.

With that in mind, a third control scheme, designed to cater to the concerns of those who played the demo, is being planned and should hopefully come to fruition.

Isn't it lovely when a developer actually listens to people?

Is it worth it to download if you only speak English poorly Mr. Sterling?

Huh, I didn't think the controls in Portable Ops were a deal-breaker by any means. Oh well, at least the option'll be there alongside these other setups! Good for them!

@ Commoni
Wut?

This is why I still love Konami.
This is why I still love Kojima.
This is why I still think that ZOE3 is inevitable.

Well I liked the demo and all but I hope Kojima-san could have a setting where you could edit the controls however you like. Would be a first though.

Oh and bring back wall move and crawling. Hopefully what we see in the demo is just a little taste. He still has plenty of time to work on the game ;D

Is this really worth an article? Focus more on the community please instead of these meaningless posts!

See: PixelProspector. Now that would make a good article!

I thought it was to be a lame and generally worthless addition to the community. In fact, I'm sure that's exactly why you're here.

Game looks awesome and I felt it controlled pretty well. It'd probably be even better if i had even the most remote ability to comprehend Japanese.

This game looks amazing. The trailer was the best I've ever seen. I feel obligated to post something to that note every time this game is mentioned.

Hate hate hate using the face buttons to look around. I'll never get used to that.
Every portable system from now on needs two analog nubs (ipod touch controls suck, and therefore, don't count)

The trailer is top-notch, Ashley Wood's back for another go-around, the graphics are killer for a portable, but the new control scheme will take some getting used to. Not too worried, the controls changed radically from 2 to 3 to 4, so we'll see.

@stMcDuck: wow, i agree man, while others praise Syphon Filter's control scheme, but i always felt awkward when using buttons to look around, i always puzzled why do people always generally think every 3D game should use a dedicated camera manipulator, last time i checked Dreamcast only got 1 analogue stick and i didn't hear any complaints about that either from developer or from gamers and whatnot.

@Solid Squirrel:
Most of the comic cutscenes are drawn by Yoji Shinkawa this time. Ashley's work appears, but only in a few places.
