Kojima cover story in OPM confirms Metal Gear Solid 5 photo

The latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine is going to hit stands in the UK with all the force of a nuclear warhead delivered from any point on the globe using some kind of bi-pedal tank. Their cover story is none other than Hideo Kojima, who gives an interview containing thoughts on Metal Gear Solid: Rising as well as the future of the series in Metal Gear Solid 5.

They also did a photoshoot which, for some inexplicable reason, I really want to see. I don't know when it was that we celebritized our game developers to the point where I am interested in a gallery of photos of a guy who sits behind a keyboard all day, but we're there, people. It's like the nerdy kids who wanted to be rock stars are seeing their dreams come true.

Did I mention there's a Metal Gear Solid 5 thing going on? Yeah. I'm not even going to begin to speculate on that. Magazine hits stands November 29, but OPM UK will be dripping out information from the interview between then and now. Internet panties, twist thyself!

Historic issue 65 cover features Hideo Kojima [OPM UK]

Didn't he go on the record saying that he WAS NOT going to continue making main MGS games? I guess I don't really mind though, maybe they'll make it available for the 360, and port over MGS4 for the occasion. Not likely, but whatever.

What.

I knew there was something for the 25th Anniversary and I didn't think Rising was exactly it, but what's left for Solid Snake to do after MGS4? Pretty much every plot thread was neatly tied up and Snake maybe has a few months left to live.

Plus he quit smoking and many critical cast members are dead. I guess if Raiden or someone else took over I could see a new saga happening, but I kind of liked the idea of just exploring a metaverse and Solid Snake having MGS4 as his send-off.

@The Silent Protagonist

BRAND NEW STORY, PERHAPS? Actually, I kind of wondered if Kojima would do a pre-prequel, centering on The Boss. I always thought it would be really interesting to see a Metal Gear game with a serious female protagonist. And of course there's Meryl, though I think a story centered around The Boss would be far more compelling.

You can say that he's "milking" the product, but it says a lot that your worst game was MGS2: Sons of Liberty.

Never mind, what I was remembering about him going on the record saying he WOULDN'T make MGS5, was just an old quote he made in 2008 saying he SHOULDN'T make MGS5.

4 out of 10 confirmed.

i don't think this is MGS5 to be honest.

probably a question about what would MGS5 be and inside the article Kojima will probably say he might do something else.

http://forums.gametrailers.com/thread/metal-gear-solid-5-confirmed--/1262181

also would rather have a remake of Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2 MSX :P

imagine Big Boss vs Solid Snake or Frank Eager vs Solid Snake in HD!!!!!!!

I want a full-fledged remake (more like reimagining) of the NES Metal Gear games (sans Snake's Revenge). I would love to get to experience the game again knowing what we know about Big Boss. It would be really emotional (he's not technically the bad guy after all) but also a downer to have to kill then re-kill (with a flamethrower no less) such a beloved character. Seeing Grey Fox again would also be cool.

Metal Gear Solid 5: Tactical Retirement Action

Complete with a 2 hour cutscene featuring Old Snake bitching about kids on his lawn, Medicare, and talking about how things used to be 'in his day' while waiting for the folks at the nursing home to bring him his mashed potatoes.

Really, what's left to explore with Snake? At the end of 4 he's pretty much done with fighting and with life. It concluded the story. So that would lead me to believe 5 is another prequel, if anything. Or maybe shifts the perspective to another character like 2 sort of did.

Speaking of prequels, I still need to play 3. Which I'll do whenever I get the money for the HD collection. Which...will probably be after Christmas at this rate.

Seeing how the core theme of MGS4 was "Everything has to die eventually;" that everyone should stop asking Kojima for more MGS games and let him work on something else; I'm not sure how to feel about this.

Personally, I wish they (as in Kojima and his producers) would just make a spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid. That way they can continue to give us quality tactical espionage action, but without messing with Metal Gear's story.

I read the head line and spat coffee all over the screen.

........I wasn’t drinking any coffee.

The only way I can imagine this working is if it’s a remake of the original Metal Gear 1 (and 2?), there is literally no other point in the timeline where you could fit in a meaningful game that matters to the overall story. Plus I don’t think most people really know what goes on in those games and I doubt any of it makes sense anymore in conjunction with the rest of the story.

I love to see Kojima move on just to see what else he has in him, but then, it’s not like this game could possibly be bad.

i'm with PrinceHeir. I want to see a remake of MG and MG2 with some new, deeper narrative that makes them more essential to the main story (basically where we see how a lot of things we were TOLD happen actually happen). Also, seeing HD Outer Heaven and a Solid Snake vs Big Boss fight while the old man was still in his prime would be awesome. The makeshift flamethrower scene would probably make my life.

I seriously hope he doesn't continue the saga of Old Snake. Not after it all ended so goddamn beautifully.

I doubt this is true. It's probably some bullshit question, like "whats the plan for MGS5?" and he'll have some trololol answer or something that says "I would fix this or add this theoretically". Just a ruse to get more people to look inside the magazine.

More spinoffs are inevitable, or remakes, but def no MGS5

"Kojima cover story in OPM confirms Metal Gear Solid 5."

Nowhere in that link is such a thing confirmed.

A beloved series that people understandably want more of? Knowing that Kojima talks about "Metal Gear Solid 5" in an interview is not an announcement for.

Kojima will find a way to make it work. Another prequel, or a sequel with a new clone maybe? Whatever it is I'll set my money aside for it today.

Remeber guys, Les Enfante Terrible still hasnt happened in any MGS game yet.

In other words, the timeframe that the three clones were made has always been told by a character or flashback. I want to play that era, and as Raiden when he was a child soldier called Jack the Ripper

Please no more Solid Snake. He is is a gaming legend... but I think his time is done. Let us play as Joy/THE Boss! If not, let us play as Naked Snake and do the missions they talk about in MGS3.

No more Raiden after MGS:R or Solid Snake please :/.

I wonder that too. That new engine he made is for multiplatforms.

I want to say he do some exclusive game for the Wii U, but he wants multiplatform games for now on.
