Koei has a new Warriors Orochi in the works photo

Tecmo Koei has revealed that a new Warriors Orochi game is due to release on December 22 in Japan, where it will be called Warriors Orochi 2 (because the game we received as Warriors Orochi 2 was some sort of spin-off, apparently). The game will take characters from Samurai Warriors 3 and Dynasty Warriors 7

Over 120 characters will be available, and players will also be able to create and upload their own stages, which sounds pretty exciting. When it comes Westward, it's likely Koei will call it Warriors Orochi 3, so that's what I'm going to call it.

Warriors Orochi is what I typically use to introduce newcomers to the Warriors games, since it takes everything from Omega Force's two hack n' slash franchises and adds demons. You can't really go wrong with that! I'll maintain high hopes for this one.

It's set for both PS3 and Xbox 360.

I would rather have a Warriors Orochi Empires instead of this.

Still it's a warriors game, so GOTY material, just the uncivilized masses can't appreciate such art.

My brother and I played through Warriors Orochi and Orochi 2 several times. It really is an awesome mash-up of the two franchises and a great time. I'm looking forward to this coming stateside.

I really wanted a Warriors Orochi Empires. They could have really went wild with it, putting in some mechanics that just don't work as well with the regular games.

Like the map. The Empires games have fairly realistic world maps. Certain characters are found in certain sections of the world. Games tend to flow fairly similar as well, because the map stays the same. For the same reason, you also tend to fight on certain stages a lot, and other stages are very rarely seen (like stages at the edge of the world map). With an Orochi Empires, they could have made the world map itself random.

i still remember enjoying the hell outta DW2 for the PS2 over a decade ago. then DW3 came out and it didn't take me long to realize i just wasted $50 on the same game with nothing more than a different coat of paint.

unfortunately, it's been that way ever since which is sad because, put in the hands of a real developer, this series by now could (and should) be so much more.

Oh, now that's interesting.
Really liked the first two, and I hope the custom stages stuff is released over here too.
A Empires version with this system could be pretty good, I think.

You know what would be better? if they crossed over with DW: Gundam & Fist of the North Star and/or they do Warriors Vs Sengoku Basara Vs Drakengard

Yay! I loved the last one, depsite the horrific frame rate problems on the 360 meaning it played in slow motion.
