Knytt and Knytt Stories were both wonderful freeware platformers, especially when it came to the user-made levels for the latter. Developer Nifflas, Green Hill Studios, and Ripstone Publishing have announced a new game, Knytt Underground, so this is as good of time as any to suggest that you go play them both.

As one might expect, this new title is headed to Windows, Linux, and Mac, though interestingly enough, it's also going to see a release on PlayStation 3 and Vita this year.

"Knytt Underground is the biggest game I've ever developed and is the first game where I feel that I have a story to tell," stated Nifflas creative director Nicklas Nygren. "It's about the big questions; trying to understand life and our place in it -- and failing completely." I need this.

That Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor 'fell to bits'

Too good to be true, I worried, when first hearing about a spiritual successor to the Banjo-Kazooie series that was to be made by former Rare staffers. "Mingy Jongo." Perhaps that name still rests in your memory. I had forgot...more

Aaru's Awakening is all about movement

I’ve been interested in Aaru’s Awakening ever since its announcement captivated me with its hand-drawn art style. It’s pretty hard to pass up playing a game that looks the way Aaru’s Awakening does. Fr...more
