Last week, it was revealed that Zachary Quinto, known for his role as Spock in the recent reboot of the Star Trek franchise, would be lending his voice to the upcoming MMO, Star Trek Online. The internet collectively gasped, "No! I don't believe it! I demand proof of this thing!"
Okay, perhaps not. But just in case, Atari sent over this behind-the-scenes trailer for the game featuring Quinto in a voice-over recording session. They also included a bevy of screenshots focused on the Klingon way of life in the game.
The game toys with me. I have very little desire to pay a monthly fee to have a second job, even if that job is seeking out strange new life and new civilizations. But it's friggin' Star Trek, man, and the guy inside me who was president of his high school's science-fiction club is crying out like Tasha Yar when she was being consumed by Armus on Vagra II.

I've never been a Trekkie, but I've always been a fan of Quinto. That and the new Star Trek was awesome... though I admit I only actually saw it a week ago.
I feel exactly as you do, I have never liked the idea of MMOs, but it's freaking Star Trek. I grew up on TNG and as an adult fell in love with Deep Space Nine. I even liked Enterprise in the later half of its run. I am destined to buy this despite my dislike of the genre.
Also I disliked the new movie, it was barely Star Trek at all, yet Quinto's performance was a highlight.
Notice how horrified cryptic is of showing a single interface element or properly explaining a single game play mechanic? It is in their best interest to withhold game play information for as long as possible so that people who don't realize the game will suck can pre-order it. This is going to be an empty, lifeless, content-deprived game when it launches. Look how bland the environments are. I had my hopes high for this because I figured the Star Trek universe was a good place to create a unique MMO unlike the standard WoW model. Ooopsie Me!
