Nintendo has announced that Kirby's Dream Collection will arrive in North America on September 16, so if you hear delighted screams echoing from the barren wastes of Mississippi on that day, you'll know I've woken up.

In case you've forgotten, the 20th anniversary collection gives us six games from Kirby's back catalog -- Kirby's Dream Land and its two sequels, Kirby's Adventure, Kirby Super Star and Kirby 64. It'll have some extra content too, including a timeline and playable challenges.

Can't wait.

Just the fact it contains Kirby's Super Star is enough for me, and the added bonus of the Kirby soundtrack CD is like icing on the cake. If that's not enough, Nintendo is throwing in a new challenge mode to give something new to longtime fans of the series.
Bundled with the Super Mario All-Stars Wii port was a music sampler containing select tracks from the entire series -- nothing all that remarkable. Nintendo stepped its game up on Skyward Sword with a beautiful symphonic CD....
