Kinectimals special editions come with stuffed animals photo

North American retailers have outed a special edition version of Kinectimals, Kinect's answer to Sony's EyePet. The limited edition box not only includes the game, but a stuffed animal unique to each participating retailer.

So far we've spotted a blue maltese tiger at GameStop and a king cheetah at Toys R' Us. The animals come with a code that unlocks them in the videogame as well, providing you with literally minutes of entertainment as you make your blue tiger roll over, jump, or roll over.

I wish all tigers were blue.

So how are those really any different than litteraly any other stuffed animal?

Jim you're on a roll today, more than usual, all that needs to be done for comment is to copy-pasta one of your excellent lines...

"providing you with literally minutes of entertainment as you make your blue tiger roll over, jump, or roll over."

Jolly good show old boy.

"Hey I'm not the target market for this so while I could give a shit I don't mind companies trying to get nongamers and children into the fold for a larger overall industy"

Anyone thought of that?

The sad thing is I know of at least two sales, one of which is purchasing an xbox for this and I have a feeling they aren't alone. We arent exactly a good example of the mainstream. They eat this shit up... Just look at the wii. That being said I will be picking few kinect games just not this one.

I know you've already pre-ordered the set Jim.

Even I think they are cute...

...and I am definitely not the target audience for Kinectimals...

You completely left out the "play dead" option, one of the main selling points from the advertisements.

@dudester67
Just because a product is aimed at children doesn't mean it has to be boring. Unless they have commands to make your tiger play with you in co-op hunting excursions, or it can bust out a Checkers board, most kids are going to get tired of this within an hour. They've shown a ton of video footage of this game being played, and so far its been the same actions over and over and over. There might be more to it, but we sure haven't seen it yet.

@pokota. How many times have you seen a screaming child get what they want? Yea... That's what I thought. As soon as a 4 year old sees this they are going to go apeshit. And honestly... Have you seen a childrens toy recently? There isn't much to any of them.

I know that toys are designed to make children want them, rather than to have children enjoy them, but that still doesn't really forgive the practice. Unless Kinectimals has a LOT more content that has been displayed thus far, it has a high chance of joining the OTHER toys that kids couldn't live without, but got bored of within a few days and never touched again.

While Kinectimals looks seriously dull, I know one of the guys working on the game, and so I feel I should be in full support of it. Thus I will collect all of these fuzzy critters, and I shall be happy.

No worries, they're just like micro-transactions, Miis, PS3, EA, avatars, Activision, etc. The constant hate is constant. It simply moves from one target to another and if these plushies are it, something else will be in the near future. That is the way of a locust.

According to the packaging, the stuffed toys require the kinect sensor.

That's honestly not a bad special edition for children. They'll want the game and then a physical toy to go along with it.

It would be cool if like you Kinect Plusie animal acted as a memory card for your Kinectanimal in game, and you could take the plushies out to different Microsoft Sponsored Kinect places, and do some fun stuff with em or something. Like if you take your Plushie to a Kinect Play Area at the Mall of something, your animal can interact with someone else's, and win cool shit in game and whatever.

I don't know, I just liked stuffed animals.
