Kind of a rumor, but not really: Sam and Max coming to the Wii photo

Since late 2006, PC fans have been enjoying the triumphant return of world-famous anthropomorphic detective duo, Sam and Max. Its point-and-click style has been a hit with gamers since the 1993 release of Sam & Max Hit the Road, but the team has never made its way to consoles.

With the Wii's mouse-like pointer controls, fans have thought it would be the perfect match, and rumors of a pairing have long haunted the hallowed halls of the Internet. The game's retail publisher, JoWood, seems to have confirmed Sam & Max on the Wii in a German press release for one of their Agatha Christie titles:

JoWooD plant weitere seiner erfolgreichen Lizenzen aus dem Adventure Games für Nintendo® Wii™ zu adaptieren. Eines der nächsten Projekte: Sam & Max. Als Adventure des Jahres, gewählt von den Lesern des deutschen Computerspielmagazins „PC Games“ (zu finden in der aktuellen Printausgabe 2/2008), gehen Sam & Max bald auch bei Nintendo® Wii™ auf Verbrecherjagd.

In simple English: JoWood plans to adapt their successful licensed adventure titles for consoles, one of which is Sam and Max, which will soon be brought to the Wii. A betting man would put money on the Wii release being ports of Sam & Max Seasons, already available on the PC. But one can always hold out hope for an all-new adventure, right?

Great news, er... rumor. I'd be happy to play Sam and Max on the Wii, but the chances of it selling any better than Zack & Wiki are slim.

Sweet, I still have been lazy and not gotten the episodes on PC, so it would be nice just to pick up a pack as a Wii edition

Awesome. I've never gotten to playing the PC games, but I really don't have a gamer's computer.

This news pleases me.

You know, I've been holding off on buying Season 1 of Sam and Max for some reason. But if it were released on the Wii? I'd buy it the day it gets released.

Jowood destroys everything they touch, so DO NOT WANT! Even if it's Sam & Max :(

If this is an all new, never-before-seen Sam & Max game for the Wii, then that's awesome and I'll be getting it. If this is just a port of one of Seasons 1 or something, then I give it a resounding MEH and won't be getting it.

"If this is just a port of Season 1 or something," rather.

I hate starting to write one sentence, then deciding I want to write a different sentence, but then not going back and changing the first sentence while continuing to write the replacement sentence.

Great, I've been waiting for a non-PC version of Sam and Max Season One. Will buy!

You know what, I'll take back my MEH on the prospect of this potentially being just a port of Season One for the Wii, because if I didn't already have Season One for the PC then this would be awesome to me.
