Killzone 3 patch out tomorrow, adds custom games photo

Guerrilla Games is releasing a new patch for Killzone 3 tomorrow, adding the ability to create custom matches. This patch actually brings part one of two major custom match updates, with the first allowing you to choose modes, maps, missions and invites.

The patch also brings with it a host of bug fixes, some new control options for PlayStation Move, and a number of multiplayer gameplay tweaks. You can see the full list below.

I love how much support Guerrilla is giving the game, but I stopped playing due to the refusal to separate DualShock 3 and Move users. I fear this is going to be a running trend with multiplayer PS3 games, and it just makes me not want to stick to Xbox Live and PC for all my online needs.

[Via Killzone.com]

- Separate turn speeds for ADS on Primary weapons in Multiplayer

- Increased Accuracy ribbon effectiveness has been lowered

- Bilgarsk Boulevard - Removed invisible collision of S&D objectives in Guerrilla Warfare

Explanation of Custom Games

Custom Games will be rolled out in 2 patches. This one (1.07) and a future patch. We don't know when this will be yet.

PHASE ONE

Phase One of Custom Games gives players the option to create unranked games with the choice of:

- Game Mode

- Map

- Missions (Warzone only)

- Mission Time (Warzone only)

- Invite Squad members

- Invite Enemy Squad Leader

This gives players the ability to create private matches, and playing with and against friends or a rival clan for instance. People who don't get an invite to these games won't be able to join through matchmaking.

PHASE TWO

We still need to spec this out, so this is subject to change, but we are looking to add the options of choosing:

- More configuration options for missions in Warzone and Operations

- Adjustable kill count for Guerrilla Warfare

- Configurable Unlocks (choose which one you want to play with)

- Configurable Classes (choose which one you want to play with)

- Configurable Weapons, Abilities, Skills, Ribbons

- Friendly Fire On/Off

- Brutal Melee On/Off

I might actually have bought Killzone 3 if they had custom (private) games available on launch. The step down to a matchmaking system from the lobby system they previously had was one of the major reasons I passed on this game. I prefer to play easily with friends... I'm not sure why they dropped this function.

just curious, never played the game, but what is the issue with the move vs dualshock argument. Is one buggy or is one just superior or does one just make it cheese....thanks guys

@Elsa
You can play easily with friends. The steps are:
1) Party invite.
2) Shoot enemy mans.

@Trev, but it's still in a public game... you can't make an entirely private game just for Dtoiders to goof around during FNF games. I miss the fun of the old KZ nights with KZ2. :(

Jim, quite being a whinny little bitch about Move players. I honestly have no freakin' clue who uses the Move and who doesn't when I play. Yeah, sometimes I get my ass kicked and sometimes I kick other people's asses, and I don't own a Move. You make it out to be some sort of game breaking "feature," when 95% percent of those playing don't even notice...

Public games are fun though! We got teamed up with some guys from a clan who turned out to be pretty cool. I've been hitting them up for game invites because I like going 7-0.

Also, now there are custom games and this functions, unlike Homefront. :|
I'm still hoping they fix HF...

Yea im definetly done with this game, the lag was killer for me, whatever servers they were using or netcode was just not the same as kz2. Trading this game in on the next gamestop 50% trade in

I rented Killzone 3, decided I loved it, decided to keep it, and haven't played it since. I should get on that again, I suppose.

will it add fun to the game....or you know content beyond the 15$ price that KZ3 should have(besides being on PSN as dlc)?

Might want to fix that typo, Jim.

Also, you stopped KZ2 due to cheating and such, and now stopped KZ3 due to Move. Looks like it's back to KZ1!

Seriously though, I love KZ1. I didn't care about the glitchiness of it. To me, it just had the best weapons, characters, and world. From what I played of KZ2 & 3, they just don't stack up. They're missing a magic that I felt the first one had. Guerilla should HD up the first game.

Mute all function; yeeeees. So many people with shitty noisy mics. All PS3 games should have that. Also, Move "aim lock"? You mean people using pointer controls have auto-aim as well? What's up with that bullshit?

I hope the new move options let me assign melee to a button, as reloading by twisting the controller works just fine, and when crouching, I HAVE to twist it anyways. It's the only drawback I find to Move, as "Jabbing" the controller is nowhere near as fast as pushing a button.

@Trev - if we can get the numbers, we can try giving Homefront a try with the private game function... just Dtoiders!
Still... I'm glad that they seem to be bringing that function back to KZ!

I am one of the sharpshooter users and I have to say regardless of the accuracy boost I get from it I still think the game is balanced. Hell I get owned by ppl using the dualshock all the time. Are you really just that bad at the game jim?

damn i actually want to play this game :D

didn't like KZ2 due to it's lag input and such, but it seems here it's more fluid and awesome.

btw Move is actually better than DS3 or any other controller in terms of FPS games, on-rails shooter, and games like RE4/RE5.

oh and Move does have a huge advantage in KZ3:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWF0yZCmpNo

definitely more FPS games should support Move :)

Jim, if the Dualshock method of input is better, then why do you care about separate servers?

I'm kind of confused by the language in the patch. You can create custom games now (within limits) but are they all private/by invite only? Or are we getting the option to make custom games and custom private games?

Wait, wait. Sterling, you've been saying for a long time that there is no reason to own a Move. Now you're saying that people who use Move have an unfair advantage? Which is it?

As someone above said, stop whining. People who play with a DS3 do just fine.

Looks like I'll be getting an extra 10 to 20 kills per round. THANK GOD for this update. Now if they could only tweak the deadzones...

Jim, if you state that the Dualshock is the better method of input, why do you care about isolating Move players onto their own servers?

I just watched the video PrinceHeir posted, and I was shocked at how easy the game looks when using Move. Seriously, jump to about 10 minutes in and see for yourself:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWF0yZCmpNo

Granted, I've never used Move myself, but this video scares me. And it's no wonder everyone loves it; it turns the game into an aim-at-the-middle-of-the-screen-and-see-who-can-pull-the-trigger-fastest nightmare.

Are they fixing the crazy turning issues in the campaign when you use a jetpack, and the player is using a Move? Right now, when you put on the jetpack, your predefined Move settings are thrown out the window, and Sev becomes nigh impossible to control.

dunno Jim i respect your opinions but this ones seems more like a tantrum

Wow, Guerilla. Who would have thought that I may want to play a specific game mode, such as CTF, on a map that wasn't the one with the ugly ass green filter/haze all over the place making it impossible to see?

This game's multiplayer suite was atrocious. I sold it after two weeks and have not regretted the decision once. That's the last time Sony tricks me into thinking they have the capability of creating a quality FPS game for their system. I'll stick to 360 for my shooting needs, thank you very much.

i kinda agree with elsa, it feels like kz3 lost alot of features kz2 had, and im not talking about skills etc. it just seems like they dropped alot of features for no reason. only to now add them later as a patch.

its still pretty fun to play, it just doesnt give me that awesome feeling i had back during the dtoid clan FNF.
