Official PlayStation Magazine has once again stoked the rumor fires surrounding Killzone 3, currently competing for the title of "most obvious game release that hasn't been confirmed yet." According to the magazine, we can expect to see Killzone 3 details very soon, with a possible reveal at E3.
Apparently we'll be hearing about Guerrilla's sequel over the "next few months," so fans of the series better keep their eyes peeled. OPM was also responsible for claiming that Killzone 3 was "deep in development" and has been teasing us with news on the PS3 exclusive for quite a while.
I was one of Killzone 2's most avid players before it turned into a spawn-and-die festival, so I'm quite eager to see another game. Guerrilla seems to have more or less abandoned Killzone 2, and MAG didn't quite scratch my itch for another terrific PS3 shooter. Killzone 3 needs to hurry up!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
You should start playing again. That stopped for quite some time. The multiplayer is still working great, at least at this moment.
stealth kills FTW
They had an objective based team game... but gave points for kills and not for team based objectives. If they had given decent points for capturing a zone, for picking up the speaker, etc - the game could have been awesome. Instead they lived up to their name and people simply camped the objectives... or more appropriately camped the "killzone".
Give the game another try now that people are learning to work as a group and the strategies are getting more cohesive and more intense. Rank up high enough to get the "good stuff" and try different guns. Once you find the stuff that works for you, the game is incredible!!
agreed about the point system. I was a proper team player on Killzone2 for a few months. loved every minute of it.. Unfortunately it became a bit of a nonstop deathmatch. They need a point system that works better this time and it will become a classic.
K2 is easily my favorite fps on the consoles though :)
Personally, after playing the beta I feel that MAG is a good game, but beyond the amount of people in a match I saw nothing different from any other shooter.
It also felt very similar to CoD for me. I'm not really into online gaming right now so I chose to pass on it.
The biggest difference with MAG is the points system, that's what makes it different from other FPS games. Even if you're just a great medic with a repair gun and never kill anyone, you can still make MVP. Support plays just as big a role as killing in this game. Stealth is also a factor - you can sneak in and take down AA or bunkers - and again get great points. MAG is all about the objectives - not the killing. In fact there are times when it's smart NOT to kill someone if you are trying to be stealthy in getting an objective down.
I don't know of any other game (except for maybe Warhawk) that works that way... and certainly not many FPS shooter games.
Here's hoping!
I know it's been beaten to death, but will you please fix the control scheme in time for Killzone 3? Pretty please? For me?
I mean, if you're going to force a cover system (which I'm fine with!), can you please let me at least lock into cover by pressing a button, and then pull out of cover by moving away from it?* Other games have tried this and it's been found to work quite well.
Given the option to lock into cover, we would be able to focus our efforts on aiming with L1 and shooting with R1. You know, just those two buttons. Aim and shoot. Imagine how many more Space Nazis we could slaughter! (Hell, I'd even settle for aiming with L2 and shooting with R2! Borderlands did it, and I forgave them!)
To clarify, here's what I DON'T want:
1. Hold L2 to take cover
2. Hold R3 to look down the iron sites/scope (while still holding L2 to maintain cover)
3. Move the right joystick to aim at an enemy (while still holding L2 to maintain cover and R3 to zoom)
4. Press R1 to fire (while still holding L2 to maintain cover and R3 to zoom and moving the right joystick to look at the enemy)
I'm not asking for you to force these changes on players who like your controls the way they are, but rather to give those of us used to customizable controls the option to do so!
Do this, and I'll gladly give you another $60.
Thanks so much!
Love,
mrandydixon
*And yes, I know you allow a crouch/cover toggle option for multiplayer. My problem is with single player.
Rarely does it turn into a "Spawn and die" affair for me. Well, only after I've been playing Modern Warfare 2. Seems that The Devil's Game kinda dumbs down the FPS skillz.
let go of R3, your just making it hard for yourself.
