Killzone 3 'confirmed' on Dutch TV, Guerrilla denies all  photo

A few weeks ago, we ran a rumor that said Killzone 3 was in development for a 2010 release. Now the rumor has gained more ground with a Guerrilla's animation director allegedly confirming the game and stating that it could indeed be ready by next year.

Jan-Bart Van Beek is quoted as saying that Killzone 3 is in the works right now and they're currently looking at a 2011 release date, with a 2010 launch entirely possible. Beek says that Sony is not pressuring the team for a 2010 release, so it's a case of the game being ready when it's ready, I guess.

I asked game director Sebastian Downie about the latest rumor and it has been denied, officially. According to Downie, something was "lost a little in translation" and the TV show producers made assumptions about what was Van Beek actually said. Guerrilla's official stance is that Killzone 3 has not been announced, so we are to assume it's not happening.

Until that stance changes, we have no choice but to say all talk of the game is speculation and rumor. Of course, only an idiot could not believe that Killzone 3 is in development. We all know it's happening, but the real question is this: 2010 or 2011?

I'm predicting a 2011 release. I thought the first one was great, even though I rarely have time to play it anymore, but I would love to see them go in a direction of improvement like the Uncharted series did, now that they don't need to focus so much on graphics, seeing as very few games compare even now half a year later.

But I think February 2011 is likely.

If Resistance 3 releases in 2010, then Guerilla has to hold off until 2011. I can only spend so much time and money on shooters. They can't forget that MAG and BF:BC2 are also releasing earlier in the year and they'll be played well into the summer. Plus I still need to make time for Warhawk and a possible purchase of Lost Planet 2. My PlayShooter 3 may get sick of the genre soon. I won't but it might.

of course its happening. To say a sequel from a key franchise of a console isn't happening is retarded. This is why the developers just need to IGNORE IT and just not say "No its not, no comment" because NEWS FLASH

Killzone 3 in development
Resistance 3 in development
Gears of War 3 in development
Uncharted 3 in development (albeit not far at all)
Halo 4,5,6,7,8,9 and 10 all probably in development
Final Fantasy XV is being talked about

Once again I'll say it... Revamp the control scheme!!!! At least give us the choice to toggle the "real" aiming system on or off in the options! I love you Killzone... I really do but your control issues are really affecting our relationship!

Sony has the keynote at next year's GDC, don't they? So I would expect the announcement to either be there or at E3 2010 and the release to be in Spring/Summer 2011.

I'd pull for a 2011 release-date so they have more time to perfect it. I'm hoping for some environments with a little bit of COLOR, this engine would probably do wonderful things with more vivid areas.

Resistance 3 should be coming out about this time next year so I'm hoping for a 2011 release.

At first i'd say 2012, but then, the thought comes to mind that they would most likely use the same engine, just upgraded, so development would be much, much faster. I don't think i'd want it in 2010, the more time a game is in development the more polish and awesome it well most likely be. However at the same time, if it's in for development to long, the controls, animation, graphics may become dated and visual unapealing....

logic aside, i'd put money on 2011

2011. give them time to optimize the game and maybe add some features like split screen maybe? The first game was good fun now add in some multiplayer features like a Horde type of mode and split screen and I'll be more than happy

I'm going to have to say 2011. This is because Resistance 3 was said ti be dopping in 2011 by some movie billboard which is set in 2011. And I would have to say that Resistance 3 and Killzone 3 dropping in the same year and Sony profiting would mean that something REALLY BIG is going to be dropped. (PS4, Shadow of the Collosus 2, something really big?) Just speaking out of my butt though. ;D
