Like it needed confirmation in the first place! SCEA president Jack Tretton has confirmed Killzone 3, stating that while he can't guarantee any news on the game will be had at E3, he can promise that the game is on the way. Thus ends the worst kept secret in Sony's bag of tricks.
"I’m saving the batter for E3. We will absolutely bring the heat," says Tretton, weirdly, on the latest episode of GTTV. "... We own Guerrilla [Games] and they did a great job on Killzone 1 and 2. I don’t know whether you’ll see announcements about it [at E3], but I can promise you a Killzone 3."
Sounds like Sony has some hotness in the works. I just hope it isn't all to do with PlayStation Move, and that the DualShock still has a part in Sony's current plans. In any case, I loved Killzone 2 with a passion, so I'm all about the idea of a new game coming. I've always got time to shoot Future Nazis in their space faces.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Also, awesome! Never played the multiplayer on it, but the parts of the single player I played were fucking excellent.
...MAG first.
I know it's all the generic "future guns go pew pew, save the planet" type thing, but I enjoyed the time they put into making a visually polished, and amazing multiplayer game.
No you are not the only one... I bought a Xbox 360 for Halo 3 and Gears and I mut say those games beat WoW as overrated games.
@Nitex:
I don't know about Amazon, but yesterday I went to walmart to buy GoW3 and I noticed that Killzone 2 was still priced at 69.99$ for some weird reason...
And that's saying something!
Jim, was there really any need for that move comment? I hope it does include move support, but i'd put money on it being optional if it does.
KZ2's multiplayer is one of the best this generation. ALPHA vs BETA will be reborn and bloodier than ever! It just needs to be a bit better balanced at launch.
Also, the "kill beep" is orgasmic. More games need one.
The final boss was a cheap bitch, and had way more HP than he should have had.
Is there really any need for you to get annoyed by anything that isn't unequivocal Sony praise? ;-)
But there was a need for it. Killzone 3 is already rumored for Move support, and I am just saying, I don't want all of Sony's existing franchises to go Move-crazy. My time with the Wii has told me that I don't like motion-controlled FPS games very much. I love Killzone 2 and I'd really like to keep loving the franchise. I would find it difficult if I had to deal with wonky, inferior FPS controls.
That need would be called "opinion."
We all know every game will be 10 thousand times better with Move, because Sony makes it. F'Duh.
Dude. The new avatar pic threw me off.
So clearly I'm excited for the next one... I bet its not totally more of the same generic uninspiring bs.
I don't really care either way. I prefer dualshock since that is what I used to, but I can live with using motion, as long as I dont have to shake or waggle.
Really excited for KZ3. KZ2 was the greatest online shooter I've played since the original Unreal Tournament.
The multiplayer borrowed a lot, and made a ton of its own innovations, some of which were adopted by MW2. It still seems to be a generation above MW2 though...If you didn't know when the games were released, you would think KZ2 came out a few years later, based on feature.
I spent a year playing Killzone. Long article about that experience here:

Totally agree, it bored me so much I think I only got half-way through the game before I decided it was formulaic, and had the same gameplay as every other shooter I'd ever played not to mention I disliked the weapon selection and the story/characters. It's probably just me, so chill out fanboys. I'd like a truly exceptional sci-fi shooter with a good story (I was actually a bit disappointed by Mass Effect 2's, although I still love that game more than any other space opera), but I mean a new FPS that is a completely new IP. It probably wont happen anytime soon since everyone's milking sequels, but I can dream right?
@m4j0rtr4g3dy (that's a bitch to type)
Is Metro 2033 decent? Destructoid didn't do a review of it and I haven't checked elsewhere, and I haven't heard anyone talk about it. If it's decent SP I might think about getting/renting it.

"I guarantee you KZ3 will use Move controls just like every Wii FPS. They didn't talk about FPS control that Dear Playstation commercial for no reason. Every FPS will likely have it. Are there any Wii FPSs that don't use it?"
Umm... There's kind of a difference here. No Wii FPS has been done without motion control because there are no other options for the Wii. Unless Nintendo makes a dual joystick controller or a Wii mouse and keyboard, they can't do an FPS without motion control.
@ndschroede23
I haven't played it yet, but the one review I've read (and the few posted on Metacritic) have been surprisingly positive. It's next on my GameFly queue, and I'm looking forward to giving it a go.
It had to be said.
Jump down to first floor, go to the entrance and stand with your back against the door. Take out your knife and stab Radec every time he comes running. This way he will go down in a couple of minutes.
I can't wait to shoot some space nazis!
