This weekend, Killzone 2 was treated to Update 1.20, a new patch intended to fix a number of issues that players have complained about since the game launched a few weeks ago. As always, a number of complaints have surfaced around the Internet that this new patch has "ruined" the game, although personally I've not felt too much of a difference.
If you want to know exactly what's been fixed, Guerrilla has listed the rather large amount of tweaks made. Many of them fall under "stability issues" but a few interesting tidbits is the elimination of a shotgun exploit and a change to the controller input, which I assume is a reduced amount of lag. Anyway, here's the full shebang:
- Stability issue regarding randomly named games has been resolved.
- Stability issue where rapidly tapping (X) causes a crash on spawn-select has been resolved.
- Stability issue regarding the Saboteur's disguise ability has been resolved.
- Stability issue regarding game creation with a blank name has been resolved.
- Stability issue with repeatedly entering/exiting game has been resolved.
- Ignore list functionality has been corrected.
- Unlocking of the "Front Runner" Medal has been fixed.
- Incorrectly awarding victory to clans who don't show has been fixed.
- Battle Replay for Corinth Crossing not appearing correctly on Killzone.com has been fixed.
- Issue with not being able to defuse the Search and Destroy objective has been resolved.
- HUD issue when playing as a Medic during Assassination mode has been corrected.
- Controller input has been slightly tweaked and modified.
- Exploit of shotgun auto-lock on has been fixed.
- Issue with D-charges in Campaign mode has been fixed.
Hopefully Guerrilla read our list of Killzone 2 multiplayer improvements yesterday and will one day deign to fix the rubbish Air Support ability. Yes, we know Guerrilla hasn't read the article, but its always nice to feign our own sense of importance.

Good on them. This is a great game, and unlike many games I see coming out, they responded to the complaints quickly and took care of most of the problems people have been having.

Exploit of shotgun auto-lock on has been fixed. Still the most retarded and over used weapon ever, i see so many people just running in with it in hand.
Apart from the Air supports ability to get 0 kills and blow up within about 10seconds of spawning the only other thing they should really change atm is the assault class. im so sick of people just running around with the missle launcher and just blowing themself and the target up.
Scout is the best class by far, saboteur with the boost perk is amazing for assassination too.

That's probably because everybody is trying to get the turret kills. It is the only weapon for the engineer.

People use it becuase they know its a 1hit kill if you can get close, but now the autoaim has gone i see sooooo many people doing really bad with it, taking 3-4 shots at a guy whos well within range of a 1hit kill.
you can say there all trying to get turret kill but i dont see why they do it on the biggest maps where turrets are pretty much usless there just free points. i got the 8 ribbons for turret kills in 9 games, the only reason it wasnt 8 was becuase people doing what i said earlier, being the same class and just blowing up mine.
a friend of mine who was KZ2 said the lag for the aiming is still there.

I think once I've unlocked the Boost medal I might go back to standard Soldier until I unlock the Sniper or Saboteur. Assault is just a little too limited by its weapon selection, IMO.

The major problem i have with KZ2 (I fucking love it, don't get me wrong, but) after 20 odd hours of online play, I'm finished unlocking the classes, so your general score / winning the round doesn't matter anymore, apart from leaderboards and top of the week awards (got top 6% last week).
Is it 2800 pts is the final rank? just not enough. Fair do's let us unlock the sniper there, but add a SHITLOAD of ranks after that please!!! I love playing it, but I've lost that "I need to play hours and hours of this game" just because my only targets now are the few remaining medals.
The ranking system is WAY TOO SHORT. I wanna be still increasing in rank by 10,000 points! Hell i still want something to acheive at 100,000 points!
Come on Guerilla, if one thing could improve this game further, it's a decent amount of online ranks. 20 odd hours of online play to reach the top rank is rubbish.
