Killzone 2 sells 500K, has big DLC news tonight photo

The hype continues to pay off for Guerrilla's PlayStation 3 exclusive, Killzone 2. The gritty FPS has set a new sales record, clearing 500,000 sales quicker than any first-party PS3 game to date. It's not like it's had a huge amount of competition so far, but that's still great news for a superb game.

Scott Steinberg, VP of Product Marketing at SCEA, has added that the title is the fastest-selling Sony game within thirty days of launch, and unsurprisingly stated that he was "extremely happy with the results."

In other Killzone 2 news, it has been revealed that the "huge announcement" promised on tonight's GameTrailers TV will be all about some upcoming DLC. GG's managing director Herman Hulst will be on the show to reveal Killzone 2's first batch of content.

If you're a Killzone 2 fan, you'll want to tune in to Spike TV at 12:30am for the full details ... or just hang around Destructoid and wait until we inevitably regurgitate it for you.

Great news ... KZ2 is a great game ... just a bit too short for the solo mode ... but online is fun

I prefer to get absurd shows and corny Van Damme movies from my Spike TV rather than video game news. After I saw their last VGA awards...ugh, I'm pretty sure anyone who has seen that knows how bad that was.

Besides, I'm already here so I guess I may as well post annoying, er, helpful comments as the time passes.

please more weapons/classes/maps.

i would like to see some type of remote mines or something. like a demolitions class.

or maybe a heavy class with flame thrower weapons.

To Guyver, UK had around 1.1 million preorders last time I checked. Then again, it may have been because it was the only way to get the demo. They probably played it, thought the demo was meh and then cancelled the preorder. If they did, that's a dumb move simply because the demo doesn't do the game enough justice or there was something else they wanted.

I dunno, but I will say that I did expect higher sales now that I recalled that.

500k might be just the US

@JackMaverick

We got the demo through psn, not as a promo like the us.

but still, if the uk got 1.1 million preorders the us musta got 5 million at least.

How can Halo 3 have gotten over 1 million people to play online in the game's first 24 hours, and Killzone only sell 500k after a month.

That's some sweet injustice. Probably should've spent more on marketing. Especially given that there are over 21 million PS3s out there.

500k in the US , about 2 million worldwide I believe. I'll double check my sources though.

Probably a map pack.

Quite misleading article (as well as the article this is linked to).

The announcement is to say that Killzone hit 500k faster than any other PS3 game before it. Also, it has sold more in its first 30 days than any other PS3 game. This does not say anything about current sales.

Currently, vgchartz says that it has sold about 1.4 million copies but it's usually a bit behind on recent games so I'd say it's probably a half million or so higher than that.

500k the fastest? If it was US alone, and it took 2 days to get 300k (per NPDs), that's not such a great statistic. It's probably worldwide

I had no doubts this game would sell well. As soon as folks get their hands on it, they are hooked.

Funny there is actually a reason for me to watch spikeTV. I hope they give some detail on the dlc.

I would be shocked if it were extra MP maps. Most FPS' wait at least a few months before putting out extra MP material
