Guerilla Games' lead tester, Seb Downie, has decided to shoot his mouth off on the official Killzone forums about a planned Killzone 2 public beta.

Posting on the killzone.com forums, Seb Downie (under the alias 'motherH') revealed: "Of course there is going to be a public beta. I have always said that any game that has an online mode needs to go through a public beta to ensure it works as intended."

Downie ends his message by insinuating that more information will be revealed later in the year. Both the original Killzone and the PSP follow-up, Killzone: Liberation, went through public beta testing, so this should come as no surprise.

No information on how or when the beta will be distributed (if even this year). But signing up for Sony's PlayStation Underground and crossing your fingers that you get invited to the Game Advisory Panel might be a smart idea if you want to get in as early as possible.

Funny thing? Gamestm is where I heard about Destructoid in the first place, now I'm here having people ask who the fuck I am.

On topic. I'm still kinda meh on Killzone after the dullness of the first.

I thought this game was Killzone 3... Wasn't the one for PSP the sequel?
AngelsDontBurn's Avatar
I couldn't get into the original Killzone, but I love the one on the PSP. I'll give the new Killzone a chance, but to me, it's nothing to really get excited about.

At this point I'm more excited about Warhawk.

What sort of city does this take place in where zoning laws permit open murder of others? For shame, unknown city, for shame...

I feel bad for anyone trying to download the H3 beta right about now. I'll get my turn at it later tonight when I get home. Maybe I'll get to try it before Friday...

Well I'm a member of GAP, but I don't exactly have a PS3 at the moment. Oh well...

Puppetpallmich:

It only sucked in a relative sense, in that it was hyped so far to buggery that anything less than God's very own farts would be considered a failure. It was an average game with a lot of potential that just wasn't realised. Not a terrible game by any means, but not all that great either.

For all the time, money and sacrificial virgins they're pumping into this game it better be good. Killzone was good, but no Halo-killer. Comparatively slow and really rough around the edges (the ragdolling looked like it had been done in 10 minutes), it was still highly enjoyable. I have high hopes for this one.

Also, does that guy on the turret have Down's syndrome?

this should be awesome.
i enjoyed killzone but it didnt exactly wow me.
i hope they are able to refine the weapons and ai a lot more and fix the damn lag!

uh.. the damn beta is not even out and they are "countering it" by saying "this year MAYBE we will have a killzone 2 beta"

Guys cut the price down first so someone can play the damn beta, then try to counter halo 3 (good luck on that)

btw: The beta will be up later in the day. stop whinning.

Yes G.A.P. is my goal, Jesus, I want to get a piece. I just hope this Multiplayer will be much better than the first. I jumped on killzone online recently, people still play the crap out of that.
lwesquire's Avatar
Just playing versus was bots was a great laugh in the original, except the lack of any kind of weapon or game mode setting beyond 'choose level' robbed it of splitscreen longevity, some games would just become Spawn, Run for a bit, Hear grenade launcher noise, Perish. I just hope they don't spend all their time trying to make it look as good as the video (because Peter Moore will drop a nuclear smugbomb if they don't) and make it worth playing.
