Killzone 2 intro movie not skipping, fix NOT coming photo

Yesterday we told you that Guerrilla had pledged to resolve the issue of the Killzone 2 intro movie not skipping until the Guerrilla Games logo had appeared, a rather annoying issue that forces precious seconds between me and my Air Support badge. Despite being informed by Guerrilla's Killzone Twitter account that QA was looking into a fix, producer Sebastian Downie has told us this is not happening.

"It's not a bug," explains Downey. "It was a requirement by Sony that we extend it. Not a bug and won't be fixed/changed."

Well, that sucks. Seb's swift reply confirms what I was originally told, that Guerrilla was in violation of a Sony decree that the developer logo needs to be forced upon players before they can play the game. However, the reply I originally received on this issue led me to believe this was being resolved in some way. Apparently not.

It's only a minor issue, really, but it's still really quite irritating, especially when I just want to quickly get into a game and have Sean Pertwee bark orders at me. Still, looks like we're going to have to live with it.

This is really lame. So they couldn't force the developer's logo like 99% of other games do; in a 1-2 sec screen?

It's a cool intro but yeah, a bit lame you have to sit through it for replays.

Also, i just watched Sean Pertwee in Mutant Chronicles. The movie was shit, but he was still awesome.

"My people...

I hate it when you can't skip logos, but Killzone 2 is probably one of the quickest games to get into, even with this minor delay. Plus, I loooove his voice anyway.

... they will know, Helghan belongs... to the Helghast"

Couldn't they just put the logo before the movie??

Oh, Ok...

I don't think it's that big a deal. Other games take much longer to get into even by skipping intros, and they don't look nearly as impressive.

The world need more totalitarian Brian Cox.

* Compared with games like Elephunk or Burnout Paradise, is quick. But really anoying you have to wait only to see Sony logo when you already are in a fuckin Sony videogame.

Years of development for a great game and still, people have to complain about something. Get over it, man. It's completely irrelevant.

@Stuart Conner

Years of development anticipating a great game, and people can't accept any complaints about it. Get over it, man. It sucks despite being largely unimportant.

I don't know what games everyone else is playing, but they tend to start much quicker than the 20-30 seconds it takes to get into Killzone 2 now. It doesn't bother me too much (I have to explain this or else I'm a jibbering Xbot) but we don't have to scurry about making excuses for it either.

After not playing this game for like 4 days, I put it in the PS3 yesterday and when I hear a million fucking clicking noises in the first 10 seconds of booting, and then I see that fat fuckers head....I lost it. Took the game out and turned the PS3 off.

why do people, who bought a game they know of, need to see a developer logo? they know who made it. they bought it didnt they? also its on the boxes.

Yup because waiting 10 seconds to get into the game equates to a huge deal. I swear you premadonnas and your melodrama. Not directed at you Jim. Its a very minor inconvienence. Bioshock made you sit through twice as many developer/publisher logos than this game. I can just hear some of the complaints that Geurilla probably got, "Holy shit you mean I have to wait an additional 10 seconds before I play the game? Damn you Guerilla I'm never buying any of your games ever again unless this gets fixed. If I have to think for 10 seconds a day I'll flip my shit."

Over the years, I've become increasingly annoyed by the logos when we are starting a game. Jesus, at least put all the logos in one screen, so we can see only one. Some games go for 5-6 logos before we get to the menu, making me do a double take before starting them, and watching an episode of something that I downloaded, that starts RIGHT NOW

It has been like this with Sony and Zipper Interactive since the Socom days. The games already take a while to get going but with the Sony-forced logos it makes it even more pointless and annoying.

So it was a plot by the developers to ingrain the logo permanently into the minds of gamers.

Too bad you can't -novid it like a pc game. Either way, if you are that impatient, you must really like the game.

I understand the need to list who made the game. We deal with the same thing in films all the time, and no one says anything about the logos being on the box. The difference is, if you're rewatching the film, you might want to skip ahead a bit, and you have that option. The same goes for games, or it should. Having to deal with a bunch of logos, one fucking screen at a time, is infuriating. I don't care that they put the logo at the start of the intro movie, it's just annoying not being able to skip it no matter where it is.
