The Killzone 2 "Steel & Titanium" map pack was rumored to be a free download, but such belief has exposed the naivety of the common gamer. Far from being a freebie, these two maps will instead demand the princely sum of $5.99. That's kind of a lot for just two maps.
When I first heard about the DLC, I was keen to try it out, but considering you could get a whole PlayStation Classic for that much cash, this bears a bit more thought than I had first intended. How many of you will be shelling out the cash for these maps?
Note to Sony: It's probably not a good idea to list two maps for $5.99 on the day Valve releases two maps plus a whole new mode for free.

Isn't L4D a multiplayer only game? its experience very much determined by the decency of your fellow online teammate? Costing the same as Killzone 2 at release?
Ah Sony, your marketing department pulls another winning strategy out of the hat. I know it seems like an overreaction to say this on something relatively unimportant or reasonable as this but Sony really needs to fire and kill its entire marketing department when it produces things like this
god dammit. not free. sony needs to toss some fucking bones so people will want a ps3 but they toss nothing that the consumer wants except the same old jive about bluray and hdd and the first party bs, you dropped the ball sony and have yet to even bend over to pick it up. no price cut despite the godam whole world telling them to do so. you can lead a horse to water.....
What the fuck? That much for two maps, considering the game really isn't even close to desperate for new content. No thanks, and if everyone adopts the maps and causes users without the maps more issues then they've just hurt their player base.
Jim Sterling:
Yeah, idk i think its just every time i look at killzone, it just looks like the same exact picture. Im not hating on the game or you or anything, it just seems like all of the killzone pictures i see just look very similar.
yeah, when something is called DLC I just expect it to cost now. Unlike the old days when they would just patch in new content for use. O wait they still do... Just only on pc. Sometimes.
Yeah, 6 bucks for 2 maps isn't going to sink me. I think I might manage.
Reading this comment section has been a treat, though. As a result of KZ charging 6 bucks for two maps (which doesn't seem too far off from many other games, maybe a dollar or two more) we get some classics reaction. Everything from Advising Sony to Murder their Marketing dpt, to Sony dropping the ball on a price drop, to the threat of Killzone destroying their fan base by releasing new content. Yeah. Because Killzone put out some new maps.
Jesus christ gamers sure are a whiny lot, its 6 bucks and your online system is free, if you enjoy the game so much PAY IT, 6 bucks is nothing and if you can't afford 6 bucks then you obviously can't afford a PS3 or Killzone.
There are always the inevitable "you are cheap/poor" comments that come with these stories. Yes, it's just six bucks, but when those six bucks can go to full games, one has to question the value of the purchase. I really don't think it's unreasonable for people to be surprised by the cost of this.
I don't mind the price, and I hope GG makes more money so that KZ3 can have an even bigger budget... but they really should have some original maps that aren't just using art assets from the campaign.
@ Dexter
Dont mean to sound like a dick but actually COD 4 map pack had 4 maps. One map was used for a smaller amount of people. Its an excellent death match map for 5 or 6 people, I cant remember what its called.
@ Brownpig
I saw an interview with someone from GG (I think it was on GTTV) but they said the next map pack will be redoing some of the originals from KZ1. Hopefully that will be a big map pack and will include another game mode. That would be great!
I don't understand the hate. If Microsoft can sell three Halo 3 maps for $10, why cant Sony sell two Killzone 2 maps for $6? It's really no worse than what other companies are charging for maps.
So wait. What the fuck is a good price then? It's 2 maps for 6 bucks instead of the usual 3 for 10. Sure, sometimes you get 4 for 10 like with the latest Gears pack, but it's usually 10 bucks for 3 as far as I've seen.
So you're paying 3 bucks a map, instead of 3.33 a map.
Look at that, you saved 66 cents!
But no, seriously, what's the big deal? I'd pay it if I was into the game, but sadly I've lost interest in it by now. My PS3 is back to collecting dust for the next few months.
I wish everyone was as generous as Valve....to unlock the two remaining maps on the disc months after launch for free ;) If the Survival pack wasn't free I'd throw a fit.
$3/map has been the standard for years and i think it's a perfectly fair price. also, in terms of maps, yesterday's Left 4 Dead "DLC" didn't add two new maps - it unlocked the full half-game that you already plaid $60 for. but far be it for me to question Valve…

The irony here is this is the first time I've ever used this particular screenshot.
That is from two and a half years ago. They have in fact changed their advertising company since then. Just so you know ;)
I'll have to take out a loan with a loan shark just to afford it!
Seriously though the two maps look cool.
Hmmm, smokes...

well that's hoping they don't charge the same in euro, completely ignoring previously mentioned exchange rate, like sony has a habit of doing

I know you didn't mean it this way, but you just explained both the DLC for Killzone 2 and L4D. :]

Yeah cause the context for my joke is totally irrelevant.
$6 for two new maps is more than fair IMO
