Kidnapped teen forced to buy a PS3 at gunpoint photo

This is one of those real "WTF" stories. An eighteen-year-old is currently facing charges of kidnap and robbery after capturing a teenager and forcing him to buy a PlayStation 3. Kyle Yarkosky was forced at gunpoint by David Daniels, who had an assault rifle, and an unknown "Asian-looking" man with a semi-automatic pistol.

It all began when a truck pulled up in front of Yarkosky and the two assailants got out. Daniels hit Yarkosky with his gun and demanded money. Yarkosky then had to take the two men to his own home, where his stepfather's credit card was stolen, along with jewelry. Daniels then demanded to be taken to Walmart, where his victim was to use the credit card and buy a shotgun.

Unfortunately for Daniels, the gun counter happened to be closed. He did not want to leave with nothing, however, so he decided instead to get a PS3. Once he had the console, Daniels said that his captive was "free to go." The kidnapper did not get to sit down and enjoy Talladega Nights on Blu-ray, however, for he was swiftly arrested after the incident. His accomplice is still at large.

If there's one thing that surprises me above all else, it's that I'm still able be surprised by the things people do.

He should have just made the kid make him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Then at least there's the chance the kid would be alright with it and the guy could have saved himself from the Law.

"Cut the crusts off, or you'll wish I'd asked you to buy a PS3!"

The story never tells if the assailant had a PS3 in first place, though.

I'd drive to another mall and force the kid to buy some small sidearm in a gun shop. Then I'd take that gun and kill him in a secluded place to get rid of the witness, leaving the gun by his body. Of course the whole scenario of kidnapping and forcing someone to buy something is outright stupid, because it leaves too much evidence - they'd dig into the time of the purchase, then scan the mall as well as parking camera footage. And even if every situation of being identified is taken into account, the guy can spill the beans at any time by the counter...

What they should've done is rob his house and kill him in it with any object found there (gun/knife/chair/spoon/anything).

What in the hell?

I can think of nothing more constructive to say about this story.

@ reindall

Wow... just wow. That's what the should have done, you say? They didn't kill this guy, which is great, but according to you they should have done that? That would have been a better outcome to this story? Are you some sort of an expert on robbing houses and killing people or something?

Seriously, whenever there is a stupid criminal story and then someone rolls up and makes the "this is what they should have done if they wanted to actually get away with it and not be stupid criminals" comment, it never fails to creep me the fuck out.

Seek help. Or a jail term. Either way, you'll have an experience that may make you a religious man, and not a fucking heartless psychopath. Sure, they're only a few doors down from one another, but at least you wouldn't come off sounding like a serial killer anymore, now would you?

For real. Seek help.

Why would you walk into a Wal-mart with someone as a hostage? That's just asking for arrest. And if he had a gun and was in the Wal-mart, why not just go for the money? This just wreaks of bad planning.

You'd think that with how successful the PS3's new marketing campaign has been lately, Sony wouldn't be resorting to such drastic measures to increase sales anymore.

Thats what I thought, he could of told the person behind the counter and A)got shot or B)the guy would run off both leading to a better case against the guy also why take him to the shop in the first place, rob his house then dump in on the side of the road somewhere then go to the shop yourself, stupid criminals.
