Kid threatens suicide in Blizzard game, representative gets him arrested photo

Playing online videogames, especially Blizzard ones, are a serious activity for the dedicated. As a result, we get hilarious and tragic stories. This one is a little bit of both. Game Politics (via The Middletown Journal) is reporting that a teenager recently threatened suicide to an online Blizzard representative and was arrested after the rep talked to human authorities about the incident.

The game that the teen was threatening suicide in is unknown, but a good guess would probably be Blizzard’s soul-devouring MMO, World of Warcraft. It couldn't be StarCraft, as it is widely known that those players only type in acronyms.

According to the police report, the teen told the Blizzard rep “he was suicidal and that the game is the only thing he has to live for.” Afterwards, the kid (demoted) said to police that the comment was an attempt to “try to get what he wanted for the game.” He may not have gotten what he wanted in the game, but he did earn a rap sheet, which has a -5 modifier when used in conjunction with job interviews.

No, no, kid, you've got it all wrong. You get free name changes by saying you've been receiving death threats, not by threatening to kill yourself. It doesn't work that way.

No officer, you don't understand! I only threatened to commit suicide and broke the law to get what I wanted in a video game! I have done nothing wrong!

This kid is a moron.

Off topic: That picture. Is snaked hiding in "The Orange Box"? I didn't know Kojima was a Valve fan.

Unfortunately angsty teenagers bring up suicide far too easily, but even more unfortunately a lot of them actually do it, so I think it's good that they took it seriously and I think the whole "oh my fucking god shut up attention whore lol just go do it" thing is probably a bad idea.

The same blackmail kids have used on their parents for eons.

"Give me money or I'll run away" etc etc. Seems in game admins have to play the role of babysitters nowadays.

lol @ WoW Gold. How very opportunistic of you.

Guys, if you play WoW, I would suggest NOT clicking on WoW Gold's link. Gold buying sites are notorious for spreading keyloggers.

Threatening suicide is a first degree misdemeanor? That's sorta messed up. Congratulations, you hated your life before, and now it's even worse since you have a criminal record!

You'd think they'd just send him to counseling or fine him or something. Not that they won't do that anyway.

Wanting to kill yourself is against the law? There are laws telling us how to feel about ourselves?
