Kid fakes own kidnap for Nintendo money

Kid fakes own kidnap for Nintendo money photo
     HAHA Weird!

A young man known only by his surname of Yang was charged by police Shangqiu, China, for conspiring to fake his own abduction. Yang worked with two men, Zhou and Pan, who pretended to be his kidnappers and extorted 10,000 yuan ($1,400) from the youth's parents. They were caught when withdrawing the cash from an ATM.

Yang admitted to his own kidnap, claiming he did it because his parents "had refused to buy him a Nintendo computer." I'm going to assume he means a Wii and not a Famicom, because that really would be tightfisted of the parents.

Piracy has gotten so bad in China that people are now stealing themselves. When will the madness end?

@Triox
yaHtzee. You will not disgrace his name with incorrect spellings!

I think as revenge this kid's parents should sell him as a slave, and buy a car with the money.

Where do people get these ideas? Wouldn't it be easier just got get a job and then quit after a week, once you'd earned enough for a Wii?

Wait - isn't this China? I thought that only a few consoles had been released over there due to piracy scares.

Yes - perhaps the kid means this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_iQue - because Nintendo hate China and don't release anything there. Most of the more popular games are about being a Chinese government official, like this one, apparently: http://zonaeuropa.com/200708.brief.htm#001

I would sooner fake a bank robbery than my own abduction. Heck, I would even fake my own death if possible for all of the cool benefits that would afford me, such as the ability to haunt everyone I knew in mortal life.

So I assume a Nintendo computer is like a Mac, but with tons of functionality removed, right?

I'm assuming the Vii is to Wii as the Treamcast was to Dreamcast. Bwahahaha.
