Ever since the whole Kevin Butler campaign started up, people sure have been digging the efforts of Sony's marketing department. This latest one, centered around the PlayStation Move, is no exception. As ridiculous as the crying baby doll and thumbpenis ads were, I'll happily admit it's a step up.

A jab at Wii Sports here, a jab at Natal's button-free nature there -- it's all highly entertaining. If nothing else, I am now really excited to see how marketing between Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft will be handled once the latter two motion control devices are out on store shelves. I need to stock up on popcorn.

Never change, KB. Never change.

1 commercial down, 2 more to go! I'd pay for a Pay-Per-View Sony vs. Nintendo vs. Microsoft battle royal. That would be the most epic thing ever!

Dear Playstation,

Greetings from the 2006 E3. We here are wondering why you're suddenly so proud of motion control when you mocked it openly during the presentation you just gave introducing the Playstation 3.

Oh, and what is the Dualshock 3...I thought rumble was so last gen?

i read this on another blog :)

Kevin Butler is quite hilarious.

I'm still holding out for backwards compatibility before I buy the PS3. There is no fucking reason they took that out other than to sell more PS2s or sell digital versions of their PS2 hits. No reason!!!!

Heh, I saw this earlier. As blatantly fanboyish these commercials are, I can't stop laughing. The part where he talked about buttons was the best thing ever.

Kevin Butler is pretty epic. I like it when humour pops up like this. Even the banter about the other motion controls doesn't come off as dickish. More advertising needs to be like this.

Please note: this isnt an official "commercial" (you wont see it on tv) I think the showed it at some conference and KB 'leaked' it online...at least thats what his twitter said

He kind of undermines his own argument by pointing out that, using natal, you can have a first person shooter where you pretend your finger is a gun and shoot by going "Pew-Pew-Pew"

I can't be alone in thinking that would be the greatest game ever, can I?

The finger gun game would be a blast. You could then blow the tip of your finger off like in the movies.

Anyway great commercial. Butler needs a pay increase.

I'm loving all these recent video jabs at other industry types. It's reminding me of back in the day when Sega and Nintendo used to go at it in their advertising campaigns.

I laughed so hard at the fast up and down motion he made. It was totally how my first experience with the Wiimote went down. Here I was throwing punches like a champ and there's my friend waving his hands frantically and kicking my ass. WTF Nintendo? I go for realism and get punished for it? Clearly a seizure was in order.

and LOL @ g-off, you can still make the PEW PEW PEW sounds if you want....even if your hands are really really really occupied by two PlayStation Moves.

God damn this video made me EXCITE for PlayStation Move...and I really didn't care all that much before. I'd think it'd be nice to try it with MAG.

This is going to backfire soooo badly for Sony, rofl. Natal uses buttons; controller buttons from the damn xbox controller. Like Fable is already showing us, using a free hand to do things is one idea, not to mention head tracking and voice recognition for starters; Natal has quite a bit of potential. I HIGHLY doubt M$ has any "pewpewpew with your hands" games in mind. Then you take the casuals who'll eat up shovelware games that require no controller like candy because, they're casuals and the idea already hit mainstream (talk shows, tv shows, top 50 most innovative 2009, etc).

Meanwhile, you're playing "sword and shield block & attack" and getting raped in SOCOM 4 because even though you had the drop on someone, you're lagging to much and they're using a controller.

I love the commercial as a whole because of the lowblows and because it made me chuckle a few times, but maybe Sony should've released this, I don't know.. 6 months from now?

Natal = No button

???

What about the buttons on the controller?
Whats the difference between using a controller plus natal and using move plus a nunchuck? Also you could simply use your remote control plus natal or a bottle of water. Or if youre in desperatly need to feel the ps3 move xp simply grab a dildo of your mom and use it with natal. Should come close.

The move is just another form of pushing the coursors and crosshair around. Its just another waggle in HD.
Natal scans your body/parts and builds a 3d model out of it. Man it recognizes your fingers!!! You can do handsigns/grab/point on things/hold/push and of course waggle. All with or without a controller.

Move NEEDs a nunchuck

Natal CAN use everything

Lower the cost, huh? So, can I expect them to add it soon then, seeing as a PS2 costs about $20 to make?

The PS2 is the most popular system of all time (right?) so wouldn't that alone be a good enough reason to keep it in?
