Katamari Forever: new modes and screenshots photo

Just when I thought I was tired of Katamary Damacy, Katamari Forever is announced. And after the trailers and material I've seen, I find myself excited about the franchise again. The Prince has that power over us.

Aside from a ton of new screenshots, we have details on some of the new modes and features of the upcoming PlayStation 3 release. There's a new Race mode that has you moving on track to get as much as you can as fast as you can. Another has you aiming at a perfect size; too big or too small loses. There's also a cooperative mode where two players are in charge of one analog stick each. They'll have to work together to make a big katamari.

There are also new pictures of the menus, which now look like pop-up story books. Oh, and the King of Cosmos looks like a robot now.

Katamari Forever will be released in Japan on July 23rd for PlayStation 3. And if you've missed it, be sure to check out the crazy Japanese trailer for the game after the jump, now with higher quality video and audio. Puppet monkeys and chickens get rolled up.

Fffffuuuuuu, this is my number one reason for getting a PS3 right now. I swear to God, Katamari Damacy is like crack wrapped in bacon.

Maybe they should make a Katamari game about clumping up all prior Katamari games, rolling over the original creator, and whoring the franchise interminably.

@Frohike, I guess you've had bad experiences (SOMEHOW???) with Katamari.

I think you should be in the game so we can roll all over you over and over again :]

I hope you mean this is new information to us regarding KF on PS3. I mean the previous games had levels where these objectives were the focus, and co-op was an option as well.

I'm looking forward to it

Yeah, despite all of these "new" modes being exactly like those in We <3 Katamari, I still want.

The first Katamari was great fun, and the creator was ... you know... the creator of said game. Now that he's kind of out of the picture, it just feels like a rehash. It would be like Miyamoto being out of the picture on every single title since like Mario 2. No one else is bothered by this? Or bored by the mechanic already?
