Katamari Forever demo hits PSN with two free levels photo

I know full well that the upcoming Katamari Forever is nothing more than a rehash of all the previous games with new skins and music, and you know what? I'm just FINE with that. Much like the Silent Hill series, I'm just happy to go back to that world, and I don't particularly mind if everything about it isn't brain-blowingly original. What can I say -- sometimes it's just comforting. I know, I'm boring. I'll change the subject.

Namco has announced that a Katamari Forever demo hits PSN today, which has two free levels. In addition, you can also grab a free Katamari Forever theme to make your PS3 all cheery looking. I think I'll take a break from Muramasa this evening to give it a spin. Also, I can't wait to hear more of the new soundtrack!

'KATAMARI FOREVER' PLAYABLE DEMO AVAILABLE NOW VIA PLAYSTATION NETWORK

Take the Prince for a Test-roll with Two Complete Levels Available to Download Free

Available now for free download via PlayStation®Network, the demo of Katamari Forever lets players roll through two complete levels of the forthcoming installment in the weird and revered series. Playing as either the Prince or one of his seven cousins – Slip, Dangle, Ryu, The Princess, Drive, Ichigo or Miso – players must use the Katamari Sprinkler to return life to the desert and roll up random playthings to make a space satellite.

Bulging with the largest collection of stages, modes, songs, and cousins to date, alongside remixes of the unforgettable music from Katamari Damacy, an all-new storyline featuring everyone's favourite videogame royal family, an array of dazzling new visual effects and 1080p HD graphics, Katamari Forever is a must-have for any self-respecting Katamari fan.

Faithful to the oddball Katamari universe and its idiosyncratic yet strangely irresistible gameplay, players in Katamari Forever will use the Prince’s Katamari to roll up everyday objects from cats to combs. The more objects the Prince rolls up, the larger his Katamari becomes, allowing him to roll up even bigger items until no skyscraper or ocean liner is safe. In Katamari Forever the Prince faces his toughest challenge yet with more strange and sensational Katamari to roll up than ever before.

The fans of Katamari can also download from the PlayStation®Network.a Katamari Forever – Noby Noby Boy theme for the PLAYSTATION 3.

Katamari Forever for PLAYSTATION®3 will be available in PAL regions on September 18.

I've never played a Katamari game before, but this made me want to go out and rent Damacy. The art and music were really good in the demo.

@jhitcher42, the Katamari games are one of the best games on the PS2. I'm glad its on the PS3, as it should have been. Exclusive and not the half-assed port that was Katamari Forever, which i feel was an attempt to get Japanese gamers on the 360 ( not that it worked and the creator admits he had no input on that one)

jhitcher, I too haven't played it either. Well except for the Japanese demo, but it doesn't count since I had no clue what the hell was going on haha.

I have the Japanese demo but maybe I'll download this so I understand what the King is saying.

It's a lot of fun as always, and it's very pretty!

It's awesome, I prefer Noby Noby Boy though, but that's because of it's weirdness.

It's a demo that you'll definitely play more than once.

Did anyone else have trouble platform jumping in the desert level? Couldn't get a hang of wagglin the control to jump, half the time the little dude would just stand there while I was awkwardly thrusting my controller up and down like a chimp.

I'm waiting on a thunderstorm to go away before I can plug my PS3 back in and get the demo. I'm look forward to this with fond remembrance of playing We Love Katamari for the PS2. *sings Baby Universe* ^__^

Played only the first one and had fun with that. Also debating to get Muramasa now or a bit later.

Yeah, what fetusmilk said, you can use R2 to jump. Much more easier than thrusting the controller madly.
Played it, liked it. RoboKing is awesome, but Real King still rules.

Arg. I was downloading this last night and at 91% my internet connection was down for an hour. I didn't have time to go back on.

I'ma do that now.

I enjoyed the demo. The water level was hard at first until I got used to the jumping. I was a bit disappointed that I had some frame rate issues.

This demo has been out for the Japanese PSN store for about a month now. I don't like this game, or any of the games in the series. It's just not for me...
